Do you remember that feeling the first time you fell in love? Some people call it puppy love or maybe infatuation and others call it being enamored. Whatever you call it, the feeling fades away over time. Now don’t get me wrong, I think true love – say for your spouse, gets stronger over time. You may not feel that giddy love like you did initially, but if you truly love someone, that genuine love grows stronger over the years. You truly want to be around that person. You miss them when they are gone. It may feel too comfortable sometimes, but love is a wonderful thing.
No matter how much you love someone – a spouse or your children, it cannot compare to the love of our Heavenly Father. God loves us with perfect love (Psalm 86:15). He loves us with unconditional love. Think about that. What you do or don’t do can never change the fact that God loved you first! (Romans 5:8). And not only did He love you first, but He loves you perfectly, with perfect love as only He can do. How amazing the creator of the universe really is. Even though God loves you, if you are an unrepentant sinner, your sin separates you from God. Please turn away from your sins and turn to Jesus (Acts 20:21).
If you are already saved, then this is my question to you: Christian, are you living your life as though you are truly loved by our Father God? (Romans 8:37-39). Are you living your life victoriously in Jesus Christ our Lord? (1 Corinthians 15:57). Jesus not only saved us for His redemption and to bring us back into a right relationship with God, but He saved us from all anxiety and fears (1 Peter 5:7). Are you living your life full of fear or fearlessly? Personally, I’ve been living my life too anxiously.
I’m asking these questions because I’ve been saved for five years. God laid evangelism on my heart about three and a half years ago. Because I hand out tracts, witness to people and do open-air preaching, I thought that I was close to being sold out for God. Recently I’ve been taking a discipleship class and God has used the biblical teaching of the instructor to show me that I wasn’t even close. I thought I was around 70% to 80% surrendered to Jesus and now God is showing me that those numbers are backwards. I’m more like 20% to 30% surrendered.
I no longer want to live that way. I want to be all in. I want to be truly surrendered to Jesus. I want Him to lead every area of my life – all the time. I want to trade in fleshly desires for spiritual desires (Romans 8:4-10). God is showing me that I am truly loved by Him. Sure we have works because God has saved us, but He’s so much more interested in us than just our works or the love we give back to Him. God wants our heart. He wants all of us (Matthew 22:37).
So are you with me? Are you all in for God? Then please read your Bible every day. Study God’s Word. Pray like there’s no tomorrow. Spend time alone with God. Meditate on Scripture. Open yourself up to God. Be vulnerable to Him. He’s God – He already knows what you are thinking and how you really feel, but He wants you to acknowledge it. God wants you to rely fully on Him and not on yourself. Experience perfect love through Jesus Christ that comes from almighty God. Surrender your life fully to Jesus today and receive love like you’ve never known before.
