No God
Atheists like to say that there is no God even though the Bible says that they are suppressing the truth in unrighteousness because you can look around at creation and know that there is a Creator. More than not, people are really saying No to God. They are saying No God…Will Rule Over My Life!
We Will Not Have This Man Reign Over Us
This is nothing new. Jesus even told a parable about how the Jews would reject Him. He said therefore, A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return. And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come. But his citizens hated him, and sent a message after him, saying, We will not have this man to reign over us (Luke 19:12-14).
Rejected King
And they did reject Jesus. They said we will not have this man reign over us. They said that they had no king but Caesar. When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he brought Jesus forth, and sat down in the judgment seat in a place that is called the Pavement, but in the Hebrew, Gabbatha. And it was the preparation of the passover, and about the sixth hour: and he saith unto the Jews, Behold your King! But they cried out, Away with him, away with him, crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Shall I crucify your King? The chief priests answered, We have no king but Caesar (John 19:13-15).
Jesus knew that the Jews would reject Him and they are not the only ones. Unbelievers today are saying “we will not have this man reign over us.” We will not bow the knee to King Jesus. We will not surrender our lives to Him. People still say we are in control and we like it that way. We don’t want anyone and we don’t need anyone telling us what to do; we do what we want, when we want.
Are You Rejecting Jesus?
Is this you tonight? Are you rejecting God? Are you saying No to God? Are you saying No God, I will not submit to you? Are you continuing in your rebellion against God? Are you rejecting His precious Son – Jesus Christ the Lord? Are you 100% adamantly against surrendering your life to Jesus?
Are you willing to publicly state this tonight? Are you willing to tell God to leave you alone – once and for all? Are you willing to tell God that you don’t need Him and that you don’t really care if you spend eternity in Hell? Are you willing to make your last stand against God tonight?
Willing to Curse God?
Are you willing to curse God and die in your sins? Are you willing to gnash your teeth and wail for all of eternity? Do you hate God so much tonight that you are ready to give Him an ultimatum? Are you willing to tell God to never try to save your soul again? Are you ready to harden your heart to the point of no return? Are you really ready to do this tonight?
Are you ready right here, right now, in downtown Springfield, MO to have one last show down with God? Are you willing to ask God to strike you dead? Are you willing to mock God one last time? Are you willing to say NO GOD for all of eternity? For this night forward with no return, no second chance? Are you really willing to do this?
Are you really willing to take the chance that God is real and you say No to God for all of eternity? Are you really willing to take that risk right here tonight? Are you really willing to stake your entire future life on this? What if you are wrong? Could you be wrong? Eternity is a really, really long time to be wrong.
Leave Me Alone
Are you really so anti-God that you would really tell God to leave you alone and never, ever send a preacher to share the Gospel with you again? Are you willing to bet your eternal soul on this? Are you ready to die in your sins at any moment and go straight Hell when you die? Are you really ready to say No…to God forever? For all of eternity? 2 Chronicles 36:16 says: But they mocked the messengers of God, and despised his words, and misused his prophets, until the wrath of the Lord arose against his people, till there was no remedy.
Are you ready to reject God to the point where there is on remedy? Are you prepared to do this tonight? Are you ready to put this in writing? If so, I have some ink pens and paper up here. Come on over here and write a letter to God. Tell Him how you really feel. Tell Him to leave you alone once and for all. Come on over here. Are there any takers? Anyone at all? Is there anyone out here tonight that is willing to put in writing that you want God to leave you alone for good? Anybody at all?
Write a Letter To God
Yes, you young man. Come on over here. Write a letter to God. Say No God; No God shall rule over my life? Anybody else willing to tell God off? No? Why aren’t you ready to do this? Why aren’t you willing to completely sever all ties to God once and for all? Are you afraid that there might be a chance that God is real and you really don’t want to be banished to suffer the torments of Hell forever?
If you are not willing to completely say No to God one time for all of eternity, then what’s keeping you from coming to God tonight? What’s holding you back from repenting toward God and putting your faith in Jesus Christ? What’s stopping you from surrendering your life to Jesus Christ the only way of Salvation? What’s holding you back?
We all have a God-given conscience. You know right from wrong. You know that stealing, killing and raping are wrong. You even know that lusting and coveting are wrong. You know that lying is wrong. We all know that we have sinned against Almighty God. Each and every one of us are sinners because all of us have fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23).
None Of Us Are Righteous
We’ve all broken the 10 Commandments. None of us are righteous (Romans 3:10-12). None of us are right with God – on our own. Our sin separates us from God and there’s nothing that you or I can do to make things right with God; that is on our own. We can’t undo our sins. If you lie to me right now, you can never undo that lie. You could apologize later for it. You could wish that you never lied to me, but you could never take it away. None of us can get rid of our sins.
But thankfully, God commendeth (or demonstrated, or showed) his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8). We can’t erase or wipe out our sins, but Jesus can. He can wash us, cleanse us and make us whole again. When we repent and surrender our lives Jesus, God casts our sins as far as the East is from the West. He remembers our sins no more.
Sins Nailed to The Cross
How can He do that? How can God forgive all our sins? God forgives the sins of believers because Jesus nailed them to the cross (Colossians 2:14). Jesus walked this earth a little over 2,000 years ago. He was born of the virgin Mary and the Holy Ghost. He was fully God and fully man and He never sinned one time. He always obeyed God the Father. He never broke a single commandment. Then He willingly laid down His life as a ransom for many.
Jesus Took The Punishment He Didn’t Deserve
He took our sins upon His shoulders. He was beaten to a bloody pulp. He was nailed to the old rugged cross. He suffered God’s wrath, Gods’ anger over our sins as He hung there. He suffered unbelievable agony, bled and died on that cross. He was buried and rose victoriously from the grave three days later. He took the punishment that He did not owe in order for us to be made right or righteous with God. Not for any righteousness that we might have, but solely through His righteousness alone. Jesus did that for those who turn from their sins and turn to Him.
Jesus came to save His people from their sins. Are you one of His people tonight? If you are not one of His people, you can be. Is God convicting you over your sins tonight? Is He showing you that He is righteous and just? Are you willing to come to Jesus? Are you ready to confess and forsake your sins? Are you ready to stop mocking God? Are you ready to admit that you are a sinner?
Willing to Look Like a Fool?
Are you willing to look like a fool, right here in downtown Springfield? Are you ready to have your sins wiped away? You can’t erase them, but Jesus can and He does. He takes your sins and gives you His righteousness. It is the great exchange. What is keeping you from coming to the King of kings and the Lord of lords? Are you ready to be saved? Are you ready to be born again? Are you ready to become a new creature in Christ Jesus?
Are you ready to face God? Are you ready to face God if this is your last night on this earth? If you died in a car wreck on the way home tonight, have your sins been forgiven? Are you saved? Do you know that you have eternal life? Are you sure? Are you willing to bet your eternal soul on being right? Have you truly repented and believed on the Lord Jesus Christ?
Get Right With God
If not, please, please get right with God tonight. Stop saying No to God. Stop saying No God. Stop saying I will not have this man reign over me. Come to Jesus. Admit that you are sinner. Confess and forsake your sins. Cry out for Jesus to save you. Put your trust in Him. Trust in the Lord with all of your heart. Godly sorrow works repentance to salvation. It should grieve you that you have signed against the One True God. Repent and believe the Gospel.
Surrender your life to Jesus. That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved (Romans 10:9-13).
Come To Jesus
Do this tonight. Don’t put it off. Stop saying No God. Come to Jesus Christ. All that come to Him, He will in no wise cast out. Humble yourself tonight. Plead with the God that you’ve been mocking your whole life to forgive you, to have mercy upon you. Cry out for God to save your soul. Repent and surrender your life to Jesus. Then no longer say No God, instead say, Your will be done Lord. I’ll go where You tell me to go. I’ll do what You tell me to do. I’ll say what You tell me to say. Instead of saying No God, say yes, Lord, I am Yours.
(This message was lifted up on the square in downtown Springfield, MO on July 22, 2016)
