Mean Preachers The Day Before
Ministry Update April 15, 2018
It was a real blessing to have Brian join me at MSU on Wednesday. Brian handed tracts while I brought a message that was a little more confrontational than normal, challenging atheists about their illogical worldview. I wasn’t nasty about it; I merely challenged them to look at what they believe and look at the world around us. It was disappointing that Quinn who mocked me the week before while I was exhorting Christians, chose not to show up when I was challenging atheists. He was aware of what I was going to do, so I assume that he really didn’t want to be confronted about his atheism. After my message, I handed out tracts while Brian brought a message about how there really are no atheists (Romans 1:19-23).
While I was handing out tracts, a young lady came up to me and said that there were mean preachers the day before on campus. I told her that I was sorry to hear that. I asked her if they preached behind the student union and she said they did. Then again, she repeated that they were mean and not nice like I am. (She has encouraged me in the past). I told her that I was really sorry to hear they did that. The Gospel is foolishness to those who are perishing and we don’t need to be offensive about it (1 Corinthians 1:18-31). Yes, there is a difference between being confrontational and being outright offensive.
We’ve Had A Complaint
I kept handing out tracts while Brian finished his message. About the time he finished up, two MSU security guards came over. They told me that a student on the third floor of the library complained that I had been too loud. I assured the gentleman that I don’t even bring an amplifier to this spot where they aren’t allowed. They both said they knew I didn’t use one. In fact, one of the guys is an old high school classmate and he told me that he has seen me using the amplifier downtown.
Then the student that earlier told me about the mean preachers the day before, came over and handed me a drawing of the cross. I told her thank you very much. So on a day when I was prepared to do battle with atheists, instead, I was blessed to have Brian join me and doubly blessed by the young lady giving me the drawing of the cross. Thanks be to God.
Slow Rainy Night
Friday night was rainy and we’d had warnings of severe weather since earlier in the afternoon. But Polly and I went downtown and I brought a message called My Lord and My God. It was great seeing a friend from our old church and I said “hi” to her while open-air preaching. Then a couple were crossing the street and the man raised his hand in the air in support of the message glorifying Jesus. Even though there weren’t many people out and only one young woman took a tract, may God be praised and may our Lord Jesus Christ be glorified.
(These updates are given to encourage Christians to share the glorious Gospel with this lost and dying world)
