Magnify The Lord
As Christians, we are to magnify the Lord. To my fellow Christians, do you magnify the Lord? In other words, do you praise God? Do you exalt or extol the Lord? Do you lift of up the precious name of Jesus to others? Do you share the Gospel with this lost and dying world? Do you magnify Jesus – the name above every other name?
Psalm 70:4 says: Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: and let such as love thy salvation say continually, Let God be magnified. In Luke Chapter 1, the angel Gabriel tells Mary that she is going to have a son by the power of the Holy Spirit and that He will be a King and his kingdom will reign forever. Mary went to see her cousin Elizabeth and Mary spoke these words: My soul doth magnify the Lord, And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour (Luke 1:46-47).
Do You Magnify The Lord?
King David magnified God. Mary, Jesus’ mother magnified God. Do you magnify God? Do you praise Jesus? He is worthy of all praise and honor. If you are truly one of His, you’ve been saved; you’ve been redeemed. You have everlasting life. Jesus gives us the abundant life in this life, when we surrender our lives to Him. That doesn’t mean life becomes easy after you are saved. No, the abundant life means that Jesus is with us for the rest of this life and will be with us for all eternity.
The Lord Jesus says that all who come to Him, He will in no wise cast out (John 6:37). Those of us who are true believers, true followers of Jesus we have been saved. Jesus came to save His people from their sins (Matthew 1:21). Jesus saves us from our sins. He also saves us from Hell. Even though we all deserve Hell, the Lord took the punishment of unrepentant sinners upon Himself as He hung on the cross. When God poured His wrath over sin out upon Jesus.
Something To Praise Jesus About
So those of us who have repented of our sins and surrendered our lives to Jesus, have been saved from eternal damnation. Even though we deserve such punishment, we are spared eternal Hell because of our repentance and faith in Jesus. Oh, my fellow Christians, this is something to shout about. This is something to praise Jesus about.
Because Jesus died in the place of guilty sinners, because He took the punishment we deserve and credit’s us with His righteousness; God has given Jesus a name above every name (Philippians 2:9). Because Jesus is the only Savior of mankind, the only sinless one that ever walked this earth, every knee will bow to the Lord (Philippians 2:10). He is the King of kings and the Lord of lords and Jesus is greatly to be praised (1 Timothy 6:15).
Praise ye the Lord. O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever (Psalm 106:1). Praise ye the Lord. Blessed is the man that feareth the Lord, that delighteth greatly in his commandments (Psalm 112:1). Praise ye the Lord. Praise ye the name of the Lord; praise him, O ye servants of the Lord. Ye that stand in the house of the Lord, in the courts of the house of our God. Praise the Lord; for the Lord is good: sing praises unto his name; for it is pleasant (Psalm 135:1-3).
Praise God
Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered without the gate. Let us go forth therefore unto him without the camp, bearing his reproach. For here have we no continuing city, but we seek one to come. By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name (Hebrews 13:12-15).
Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be likeminded one toward another according to Christ Jesus: That ye may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 15:5-6). And that the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy; as it is written, For this cause I will confess to thee among the Gentiles, and sing unto thy name.
And again he saith, Rejoice, ye Gentiles, with his people. And again, Praise the Lord, all ye Gentiles; and laud him, all ye people. And again, Esaias saith, There shall be a root of Jesse, and he that shall rise to reign over the Gentiles; in him shall the Gentiles trust. Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost (Romans 15:9-13).
We Get To Praise Jesus For All Eternity
Not only are believers to praise Jesus in this life, but we get to praise the Lord for all eternity. And after these things I heard a great voice of much people in heaven, saying, Alleluia; Salvation, and glory, and honour, and power, unto the Lord our God: For true and righteous are his judgments: for he hath judged the great whore, which did corrupt the earth with her fornication, and hath avenged the blood of his servants at her hand.
And again they said, Alleluia And her smoke rose up for ever and ever. And the four and twenty elders and the four beasts fell down and worshipped God that sat on the throne, saying, Amen; Alleluia. And a voice came out of the throne, saying, Praise our God, all ye his servants, and ye that fear him, both small and great. And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth (Revelation 19:1-6).
Unbelievers Don’t Magnify The Lord
Do you magnify the Lord? Is Jesus truly Lord of your life? Have you been saved? If not, then this message won’t mean much to you. If God has never convicted you over your sins and revealed His Holiness to you, then you haven’t seen the need for salvation. If you are not saved, then you won’t have a desire to magnify the Lord.
In fact the Bible says that you are God’s enemy. Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God (James 4:4). Oh, my hope and prayer today is that if you are not a follower of Jesus, that you will see the need to be saved. Be saved today.
We’ve all sinned against God and fallen short of His glory (Romans 3:23). The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord (Romans 6:23). Sin separates us from God. If you die in your sins, you will be separated from God’s love for all eternity in a very real place called Hell. Eternal damnation and punishment is what we all deserve for our sins. All who die outside of Christ wind up in Hell.
God Demonstrates His Love
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8). God demonstrates His love for us by punishing Jesus for our sins and then seeing us as being righteous or right with God, through the righteousness of Jesus. Salvation isn’t anything that we can earn. It is a free gift from God. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast (Ephesians 2:8-9).
Yes, salvation is a free gift from God, but you must receive it. If I said here’s $100 for you and I held it up. It would do you no good to just look at it. You would have to receive it from my hand for the $100 to do you any good. Oh, but we are talking about something so much more valuable than $100. We are talking about your eternal soul. You absolutely have nothing else so precious as your soul.
What Shall It Profit You?
Sadly, many people wander through life aimlessly and without purpose. They aren’t even concerned about their own soul. But listen to these words of Jesus: And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel’s, the same shall save it. For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels (Mark 8:34-39).
Walk With Jesus And Magnify The Lord
What shall it profit you to gain the whole world and lose your own soul? Don’t continue racing down the broad road to destruction. Lose your life in Jesus, in His wonderful salvation. Repent of your sins and receive everlasting life. Surrender your life fully and completely to the Lord. Take up your cross and follow Jesus daily. The whole time you walk from Jesus from now on, magnify the Lord. Praise Jesus for the rest of this life and for all eternity.
Magnify the Lord by reciting Psalm 100: Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands. Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing. Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.
