Life Is Precious
Ministry Update September 15, 2019
I brought a message on Wednesday at Missouri State University about how life is precious and God makes all of us in His very image. I pleaded with young women that if they find themselves pregnant this year to not kill the baby and I also pleaded with young men to not coerce women into having an abortion if they get a young woman pregnant. You don’t add sin upon sin and you don’t murder a child; that is an abomination to Almighty God. Surprisingly, I had two encouragers while bringing the message. A man walked behind me and encouraged me to keep going. A short while later a student walked past me, turned around and said Amen.
Also had several mockers. A couple of young women glared at me when I was calling abortion what it really is: murder. It’s sad how many people love their right to “choose”. A baby is not a choice, it’s a baby. Oh, you can legally “choose” whether to murder the baby or allow the child to be born, but that doesn’t change the reality that a baby is a baby. Women who have an abortion just become mothers of dead babies. They are still a mother; they are just a mother of baby that died because they paid someone to kill the baby in the womb. Abortion is a horrific sin and a great abomination to God.
God Is Not Real Mocker And Jephthah’s Sacrifice Mocker
A bicyclist buzzed me so close that I could feel the wind on my left elbow from the speed of his bike. Another student yelled “God is not real.” I replied back that the fool says in his heart there is no God (Psalm 14:1). I reminded him that I’m not calling him a fool, God is doing so. Also told the student that one day he will stand before God, the very God that he says doesn’t exist. Sadly, the student turned around, flipped me off and said, “Bring it on.” He won’t be saying that on Judgment Day. Then I took the opportunity to point out to the students that they know someone made the clothes they are wearing. A manufacturer made the cars they drive. How crazy is it to accept that your clothes and vehicle are made by a manufacturer but nothing created everything around us?
Then toward the end of the message, the polite mocker walked up and said, “Can I ask you a question?” “Sure” I replied. Then he said, “Why did God accept Jephthah’s sacrifice of his daughter? As usual, the polite mocker then smirked and walked off. Obviously, he doesn’t want to have a real conversation. He just wants to point out what he thinks are “gotcha” problems with Bible. As he walked away, I just turned around and said, “On Judgment Day you won’t need to worry about Jephthah or his daughter. You will only need to worry about yourself.” Then I pleaded with him to repent from his sins and surrender his life to Jesus instead of continually mocking the Lord.
Horton Hears A Who Is True?
Kelly, Conner and I witnessed downtown Friday night. I had a mocker during the first message of the night. I couldn’t hear what they guy said, but I invited him to come over and talk to one of us, but he didn’t do it. Conner preached after me and then Kelly went last. While Kelly was preaching, a mocker in a blue truck yelled, “Horton hears a who is true because the book Horton Hears A Who says it’s true. Kelly just calmly replied that Dr. Seuss says that his work is fiction. Then Kelly told the guy the Bible is true and he should be reading that. I thought that was a great response.
Parts Of The Bible Have Been Left Out?
While I brought a message, a skateboarder in a tie-die shirt stopped to talk to Kelly saying that parts of the Bible have been left out and how do we know they newer versions are accurate. Kelly disagreed with him in that many older manuscripts have been found and the newer versions match up to them. We handed out several New Testaments and Gospel tracts. We also had several people who just ignored us completely, like we weren’t even there. I told Conner at one point that I had so many people not even acknowledge that I was trying to hand them a New Testament that I felt like I was invisible. One guy vehemently refused one saying “Absolutely not!” But one little girl wanted a New Testament and I looked at the dad and he nodded his head yes. I love it when kids take New Testaments!
I’m Alright And I’m Good
One guy told me that he was alright. I just politely stated that we are not alright. None of us are good, that’s why we need to repent and trust Jesus. Later on, another guy said, “I’m good” so I replied, “How good are you?” He actually laughed and kept walking, so I stated to him that we aren’t good, that’s why we need Jesus, we need to repent and surrender our lives to the Lord. Kelly showed the love of Jesus by buying food for two homeless guys. Toward the end of the night it slowed down and Kelly and I were mainly just talking while we handed out New Testaments. One gentleman took a New Testament, then he vigorously shook my hand and thanked us for being out there. May God bless the messages, the Gospel tracts and the New Testaments.
