Last Friday night we heard several people say that Jesus died for our sins, but they were saying that we can sin at will because Jesus died for our sins. You can do whatever you want, because Jesus died for our sins. Sadly, these people are missing repentance. They are counting on a one time little prayer to keep them out of Hell, but it won’t do it. Without repentance, there is no salvation and Jesus never condoned sin.
Jesus Never Condoned Sin
Again I say, Jesus never condoned sin. Yes, He met sinners wherever they were at, but He did not tell them to stay there. Jesus never once said “When you lift the wine glass up, lift it high in my name.” He never said “have all the sexual relations outside of marriage between a man and a woman that you want to, because all you have to do is tell Me that you are sorry afterwards.” “God bless and go out and get drunk and have all the immoral sexual relations that you want to.”
No, Jesus never said any of these things, but this is what we hear week after week from people that are high or drunk or sexually immoral. Many, many Americans have a low view of salvation and they have a high view of themselves. God is Holy, righteous and just and God will not be mocked. Oh, in His great mercy, He may not require your very life tonight. He may allow you time to come to true repentance and truly surrender your life to Jesus. But you are not guaranteed your next breath. God may very well require your life tonight. You may not make it home alive. You could be run over by a drunk driver. I hope this doesn’t happen to you, but it could. You don’t know when you will take your last breath.
So now is the time to quit justifying your sin of choice. Now is the time to get right with God. Now is the time to surrender your life to Jesus. Now is the time to quit playing games with our Heavenly Father. Now is the time to submit your life to Jesus Christ our Lord. Now is the time to admit that you are a sinner. Now is the time to confess and forsake your sins. Now is the time to repent and put your faith in Jesus. Now is the time of salvation.
Oh get right with Lord and do so tonight; right now! Jesus never condoned sin. Please listen to the Scriptures of where the religious leaders brought the woman caught in adultery to Jesus. And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst, They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act.
Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou? This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not. So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.
And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground. And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst. When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee? She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more (John 8:3-11).
Go And Sin No More!
Please notice that Jesus did NOT say “woman, yes, you got caught this time, go and be more discrete next time.” Jesus did Not say “Woman, since you are sorry, it will be alright. Go out and commit adultery as many times as you want to. Just be sure to remember to tell Me that you are sorry each and every time you do so. Now, don’t be sad, go and have more sex outside of marriage!” GO AND SIN NO MORE! That’s what Jesus said to the adulterous woman. Go and sin no more.
No, Jesus never condoned sin. He told the woman to go and sin no more. Why is it that so many professing Christians miss this? Why do they miss repentance and faith in Jesus? Why do so many people miss out on the Holiness and righteousness of God? Why do so many people miss godly sorrow that works repentance to salvation? Because unrepentant sinners love their sins. Men love the darkness rather than light, because their deeds are evil (John 3:19).
People do what they want to do and they spend time and money on what they really love and most people love their sins. Whatever it is in life that you spend your time, money and talent on, that’s what you really love. What do you love tonight? What does Facebook reveal that you love? What do you post about? What pictures or videos do you like? What would your family and friends say that it is that you love? What would your co-workers say it is that you love? Even if you won’t admit it, those around you know.
What sin in your life is dragging you to Hell? What sin is there in your life that you are not willing to surrender to our Lord Jesus Christ? What sin controls your life? What sin are you serving tonight? What sin is keeping you from salvation? Oh, you can pretend that you are saved, but God will not be mocked. Jesus said, if you love Me, keep my commandments (John 14:15). Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him (John 14:23).
Here’s a news flash for you: if you are still living neck deep in sin, then you have not repented. Don’t trust in the sinner’s prayer to keep you out of Hell. Jesus also said, why do you call me Lord, Lord and do not the things that I say? (Luke 6:46). Your actions show who or what you really love. You can’t fool God. If your life has not changed after you professed Jesus with your lips, you are still lost and dead in your trespasses and sins. What sin is keeping you from the risen Savior? What sin has it’s grip on you so tightly that you feel like you can’t escape it?
Don’t continue claiming Jesus with your lips when you are really all in for the devil. Satan is the father of lies. He tells you that you don’t have to change. He runs around telling everyone that Jesus died for their sins, so live it up. Eat, drink and be merry. Satan is the great deceiver and he will laugh while you join him in Hell some day. But once you are there, neither you nor Satan will be laughing. Jesus called people to repentance. He said unless you repent, you will likewise perish (Luke 13:3). Jesus called us to repent and believe the Gospel.
Jesus never condoned sin. Listen to John 5:1-15: After this there was a feast of the Jews; and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda, having five porches. In these lay a great multitude of impotent folk, of blind, halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water.
For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had. And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years. When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole?
The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me. Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk. And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the sabbath. The Jews therefore said unto him that was cured, It is the sabbath day: it is not lawful for thee to carry thy bed.
He answered them, He that made me whole, the same said unto me, Take up thy bed, and walk. Then asked they him, What man is that which said unto thee, Take up thy bed, and walk? And he that was healed wist not who it was: for Jesus had conveyed himself away, a multitude being in that place. Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee (John 5:1-14).
Jesus said sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee. Don’t you see that this easy believism that so many professing Christians believe in contradicts Scripture? Jesus told the woman at the well to go and sin no more. He told the impotent man to sin no more lest a worse thing come unto thee. These are not the words of our Savior that people quote when they try to justify their sins. These are not the Bible verses people quote when they try to say that Jesus died for our sins; while really they are saying that they think they can sin freely because Jesus will automatically forgive them. Sin, then say you’re sorry and get your automatic forgiveness from Jesus because He died for our sins. Sin, ask forgiveness and repeat the cycle. But this is not biblical.
Godly Sorrow
The Bible tells us that godly sorrow works repentance to salvation. Acts 20:21 says that we are to have repentance toward God and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus said unless you repent, you will likewise perish. He also said repent and believe the Gospel (Mark 1:15). Oh don’t continue running through life loving your sins while foolishly thinking that Jesus will give you a free pass. Micah 2:1 states: Woe to them that devise iniquity, and work evil upon their beds! when the morning is light, they practise it, because it is in the power of their hand.
In Matthew 13:41-42 Jesus says: The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity; And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth. Oh do not be deceived tonight. If you are counting on a little one time prayer or you are still blinded by the easy believism false gospel, you will find yourself in Hell after you physically die. There is nothing more important than where you will spend eternity.
Confess and forsake your sins. Truly turn from your sins and turn to our Lord and Savior. Jesus does forgive sins; He forgives those who repent and put their trust in Him. Do this tonight and be saved. God will take away your heart of stone and He will give you a heart of flesh. He will give you new desires. You will desire to be more Christ-like. You will desire to be holy because God is Holy. It will break your heart when you sin. Turn and live tonight.
Jesus never condoned sin. In Ezekiel 33:11 God is speaking and He says: Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel? Turn ye Springfield. Turn ye from your evil ways for why will ye die, Oh Springfield? Turn and live. Turn from your sins and turn to Jesus. Repent and put your trust in Jesus Christ the Lord.
