Ministry Update July 10, 2016
Jesus Is Awesome!
As we ended the night witnessing we were walking back to our vehicles and Summer was carrying a sign when a guy yelled out of his car window “Jesus is Awesome!” Yes He is and that was a great way to end the night. Erica, Diana, Elise, Summer and I sung a few hymns to start off the night then I brought a message Do You Call Jesus Lord?
While I was on the box a cowboy came up to me who had previously been sitting and listening to the message accused me of being judgmental because I said something about abortion being the modern day equivalent of offering children to the false god Molech in the Old Testament (Leviticus 20:3). I explained to the guy that I wasn’t being judgmental, just preaching the Bible. I read the Bible verse to him again about the wickedness of killing children. He shook his head and walked off.
Summer stood next to me while I brought the message and she held up the sign Repent and Believe the Gospel. While I was bringing the message, a transgender guy came up and knelt down like he was praying. We don’t know if he was sincere or mocking, but then he got up and walked away without saying anything. It was kind of strange, but may our gracious Lord grant him repentance and faith.
After I finished preaching I thanked people for listening and invited them to come and talk to us, receive free Bibles or let us know if they have any prayer requests. Benjamin and the woman that was with him came over. Erica talked to the woman and I talked to Benjamin. He wanted to know what Bibles I had. I told him that I’m a Gideon and I have Gideon New Testaments. He said he wanted one. As I handed it to him, he pulled out his worn out Gideon New Testament that had the cover falling off. He also asked for another one for his niece. I told him sure.
We sang a few hymns at the end, then Erica and I went around and hand out tracts to all the people sitting around the edge of the square. Overall it was a quiet night and that was ok with us after the craziness of last Friday night.
Don’t Be A Hypocrite
On Wednesday Brian and I witnessed at Planned Parenthood. There were several cars there when we first got there. We both brought messages and pleaded with the people going in and coming out to get right with God and we pleaded with the workers as well. While I was preaching a young woman walked by and I tried to hand her a tract. She refused because she said that she believes in what Planned Parenthood does.
So I asked her if she believes in killing 900 babies a day. She laughed and said they don’t do that here. I said yes they do. They are a part of Planned Parenthood who nationwide kills 900 babies a day. They kill some by the morning after pill and some at surgical abortion clinics. Again she laughed and said the morning after pill was just birth control.
She walked away shaking her head saying that I need to read the Bible and she nodded toward the Bible in my hand. I assured her that I do read it and that God hates the shedding of innocent blood. So then she flipped me off and started cussing. I told her don’t be a hypocrite. You can’t have it both ways. You can’t be a God mocking, baby killing supporter of Planned Parenthood and then talk about God and the Bible. I told her you can’t have it both ways. You must choose one or the other, but you can’t be a hypocrite.
