In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth (Genesis 1:1). Then in Genesis 1:16-19 it states And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also. And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth, And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good. And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.
There was no big bang and there is no evolution. Evilution is a lie. God made the earth in the beginning (Genesis 1:1), before He made the sun, moon and stars, which were made on the fourth day (Genesis 1:16). So what? Why does it matter? Why can’t you believe in both God and evolution? Because they are incompatible. If you really believe in evolution, then you are calling God a liar. And if you believe in God and the big bang theory, then you again are calling God a liar. God’s Holy Word says that He made the heaven and the earth and then on the fourth day He made the sun, moon and stars. A big bang and evolution could not do that.
But the devil wants you to believe the lies so that you won’t believe in God. Satan is the father of lies (John 8:44). If he can get you to swallow one lie – no matter how small it is, you will fall for more lies later on. If the devil can get you doubt God’s Holy Word right off the bat, starting right there in Genesis Chapter 1; then it won’t be that hard for him to deceive you when you read about Christ in the New Testament.
Satan loves to twist Scripture. He adds to and subtracts from God’s Word and he tries to plant seeds of doubt in your mind. The devil started with his deceptive ways on Adam and Eve and he’s been fooling human beings ever since. Look at Genesis Chapters 2 and 3. In Chapter 2 verses 16-17 it says And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, you shall not eat of it: for in the day that you eat thereof you shall surely die. Genesis 3:1 tells us Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, Yea, has God said, You shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
The difference may be subtle, but notice that God tells Adam that they can freely eat of every tree except for the one. They could eat the fruit of every single tree in the garden, except one. Satan turns it into a negative. He questions Eve and makes it sound like she can’t eat the fruit of every tree in the garden. He tries to turn God’s positive into a negative. Then he tells her in verse 4 that she surely won’t die. But Satan deceived her. Adam and Eve most certainly died on the day they both ate the forbidden fruit. They died spiritually. Physical death was also introduced to the human race because of their original sin.
That’s why we are all born to die. Sin brings death (James 1:15). It brings physical death and it brings eternal damnation to those who die in their sins. We are all sinners and our sin separates us from God (Isaiah 59:1-2). None of us are righteous (Psalm 14:2-3). Adam and Eve sinned in the garden and every human being has sinned ever since then. Our parents were sinners and we were all born in sin (Psalm 51:5). We all have a sin nature and that sin nature is at enmity with God. We are naturally hostile to the great God of Heaven and earth (Romans 8:7).
But none of this surprised God. None of it caught God off guard. Look at John 1:1, In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. Then John 1:14 states And the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. Jesus was with God from the beginning. It was always God’s plan for Jesus to come to earth and be born of the virgin Mary.
Matthew 1:18-25 tells us about the birth of our King. Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused (or engaged) to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Spirit. Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her away privately. But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying Joseph, you son of David, fear not to take to you Mary your wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit.
And she shall bring forth a son, and you shall call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet saying, Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and he took to him his wife: And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS. This is why we celebrate Christmas. A lot of people seem to forget this fact. Without Jesus Christ, there would be no Christmas!
Jesus was born of the virgin Mary and He lived a perfect life. He never sinned in thought, word or deed. He gave His life a ransom for many (Matthew 20:28). He, who knew no sin, became sin on our behalf (2 Corinthians 5:21). He suffered horribly at the hands of the Roman soldiers. Jesus hung on that cruel, cruel cross for six long hours, suffering the wrath of God; the anger of God for our sins while He hung there (Romans 5:9). He endured the anger and wrath over our sins that we rightly deserve. We are the sinners. We are the ones who have lied, stolen, blasphemed God’s Holy name, lusted, hated, coveted and so forth.
But the innocent One – Jesus, died on that cross, was buried and rose from the grave three days later (1 Corinthians 15:3-4). He defeated sin and death. If you reject the Good News, if you reject the Gospel, if you reject Jesus Christ, if you never bow your knee and confess with your tongue that Jesus is Lord during this life, while you still have breath in you; then you will foolishly suffer God’s wrath for eternity (Matthew 18:8-9). Hell is a very real place. It is a place of torment. It is a place where there is no rest day or night. It is a place where there is weeping and gnashing of teeth.
But you can escape the flames of Hell. You can be made right with God. But Jesus is the only Savior. Jesus is the only mediator between God and man (1 Timothy 2:5). God offers eternal salvation to those who repent by turning away from their sins and who put their faith in Jesus (Acts 20:21). Jesus is the way, the truth and the life: no man comes to the Father except through Him (John 14:6). Do not be deceived. Do not fall for Satan’s lies any more. Jesus is the only way of salvation. Trust the Truth. Trust Jesus! Trust the Savior who is the narrow Way. (Matt. 7:13-14). Be one of the few. Repent and believe the Gospel (Mark 1:14-15). For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved (Romans 10:13).
