Freddie Mercury (from Queen) wrote a song years ago called I Want It All. He was a famous rock star, probably had more money than he could spend and he had female and male sexual partners. From a human perspective it appears that he had it all.
But what good did all of that do for him on his death bed? He still died and he didn’t take anything with him. In Job 1:21 Job says, “Naked came I out of my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return there: the LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.”
In fact, if Freddie Mercury didn’t repent and believe in Jesus as his Lord and Savior then he is in Hell. If he wasn’t born again before he died, all of his debaucherous living isn’t doing him one bit of good. Before you accuse me of being judgmental, let’s look at what Jesus said in Matthew 7:16-19, “You shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Even so every good tree brings forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree brings forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that brings not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.”
This is very clear. If you are not a follower of Jesus, you will be cast into Hell after your time on this earth is up. Also, please keep in mind that Jesus is in no way advocating a works based message. He is saying you will recognize His followers by their good deeds. Our good deeds do not in any way save us. Our good deeds are a result of our salvation. Salvation comes only through Jesus Christ our Lord and it is by the grace of God. Ephesians 2:-8-9 states, “For by grace are you saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”
I implore you to listen to your conscience, your God-given conscience. If you are living your life in such a way that you want it all, please realize that your sin is repulsive to God. Your sin separates you from God. The Bible says that if you die in your sins you will be separated from God for eternity. (John 8:34-35). Turn away from your sins and believe in the Gospel – the Good News of Jesus Christ. By dying to self and surrendering to Jesus you will have eternal life which is much better than all the riches in this world.
