I Knew You
God told the prophet Jeremiah, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.” (Jeremiah 1:5). What an amazing sentence. Almighty God, the great Creator of the universe told Jeremiah that He knew Jeremiah BEFORE God formed him in his mother’s womb. What a wonderful verse in the Bible.
Was Jeremiah special? Was he the only one that God knew before He formed him? What do you think? Was Jeremiah the only person ever created that God knew ahead of time? Of course not! God knew me before He formed me. The Lord knew that He would have me out here on the streets witnessing. He knew this before He made me in my mother’s womb. The great Creator God is all-powerful, all-knowing and ever-present.
God knows us better than we know ourselves. He knew each and every one of us before we were formed in the womb. All the billions of people living today, all the billions that have lived before us, God made each and every one of us. He can say to all of us, “Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you.” God knew you before you were made, He knew you before you were born and He knows you right now, better than anyone else knows you.
Life Is Precious
What does this tell us? First of all, it tells us that life is precious. All life, every life. Every singe human being deserves the chance to be born. Can’t you see what a great abomination it is to kill an image bearer of God in the womb? If God knew you before He formed you, how great of sin do you think murdering a baby is? It is a horrific sin. Abortion must end. America needs to repent as a nation over the horrible sin of child sacrifice.
It was an abomination to God in the Old Testament when the Israelites burned their children in the fire to the false god Molech and it is still an abomination to God today for babies to be murdered in the womb. Being viciously killed in the very place where God is forming babies! This is a most heinous sin. Oh, we need to repent and turn from this great evil. Over 60 million babies have been murdered in the womb since abortion became legal in 1973.
God, the same God who created the whole universe also created you and me. He breathed life into all of us. God gives us every breath that we take. He directed when we were born and He knows your death date. God is in control and life, every life is precious to the Lord. He makes all of us in His very image. That’s why abortion is such a horrific sin. God knew you before you were created.
God Has A Plan For Us
Not only has God made each and every one of us, but He also has a plan for us. No, not everyone is meant to be a prophet. But God has a plan for you and I. Tonight I want to ask you, are you being obedient to God? Are you doing what the Lord wills? If you are downtown tonight seeking to please the flesh, then you most certainly are not doing God’s will. Going against God’s Holy Word is not doing His will.
Why did you come downtown tonight? What is your purpose? What are you seeking? Are you here to get drunk or high? Are you downtown seeking an immoral sexual relationship? Oh folks, are you out here tonight to please the great Creator God or are you out here seeking to please yourself? There is no middle ground. You are either serving the Lord or serving yourself. Which is it tonight? God has a plan for you; are you being obedient to the Lord or are you rebelling against Him?
You can’t serve two masters. You will love the one and hate the other, but you cannot serve the Lord and the devil. Who or what are you serving tonight? Are you pleasing God or pleasing yourself? I’m asking you if you are obeying God or rebelling against Him. Is Jesus Lord of your life? Are you serving King Jesus? Have you truly repented from your sins and surrendered your life to Jesus Christ the Lord?
God Knew Adam And Eve Would Sin
Not only did God know you before He formed you in your mother’s womb, but He also knew that Adam and Eve would sin in the garden of Eden. God also knew that you and I would go astray from Him from our mother’s womb. Before the foundation of the world, God planned on sending Jesus Christ, the Son of the living God to be the propitiation for the sins of the world.
God knew that we would sin against Him, that we would rebel against Him, yet He made us anyway. God knew that there would be no way for us to save ourselves from God’s righteous wrath over our sins, so He made the way of salvation for us. Oh folks, this is amazing. It’s beyond comprehension why God would do this, but He did.
Yes, God is Holy, righteous and just. He is a good God and He cannot tolerate sin. Our sin separates us from God. The only way for us to be made right with God is our sin has to be punished. Make no mistake, your sin will be punished one way or the other. Either Jesus Christ bore your sins as He hung on the cruel cross or the guilt of your sins remains upon you.
Surrendered To Christ Or Still Guilty Unrepentant Sinner
Which is it? Are you a guilty sinner who has repented and surrendered your life to Jesus or are you still a dirty rotten sinner? It’s one or the other. You have repented and been forgiven or you are still a wretched sinner neck deep in your rebellion against God. All sin is rebellion against God and each and every sin has been or will be punished.
Don’t continue going through life rebelling against God. Throw down your rebellion. Repent from your sins and put your trust in Jesus Christ alone. Trust in His finished work on the cross. Jesus is the only Savior of mankind. Submit your life to Jesus. He is the King of kings and the Lord of lords. One day, every knee will bow to the name of Jesus, the name above every other name.
God knew you before He formed you in the womb. Almighty God, the great Creator God told Jeremiah, “I knew you before I formed you in the womb.” The same goes for you and me. God can say the same thing to us, “I knew you before I formed you in the womb.” How long will you rebel against God? How long will you say, “No, I will not have this man Jesus Christ reign over me?”
The Lord Knew You
The Lord God knew you, He knows you now and He knows the plans that He has for you. Oh, will you repent and trust Jesus or will you continue rejecting such a great salvation? God knows those who are burning in Hell right now and they will suffer forever. They don’t know the love of God, but God still knows them. He also knows that His righteous wrath will burn against them for all eternity.
Will the same go for you? Will you foolishly die in your sins and suffer God’s eternal judgment against you where you will weep and gnash your teeth forever and ever? And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commands all men everywhere to repent: Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead (Acts 17:30-31).
God commands you to repent. The very first message Jesus preached was repent and believe the Gospel. Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent, and believe the gospel. (Mark 1:14-15). Oh, are- you going to obey the Lord? Are you going to cry out for God to save you. Repent from your sins and surrender your life to Jesus. Do this today and be saved.
God Knew You Before He Formed You
Yes, God knew you before He formed you in your mother’s womb. But do you want to know some of the scariest verses in the Bible? Listen to what Jesus said in Matthew 7:21-23: Not everyone that says to me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that does the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in your name have cast out demons? and in your name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, you that work iniquity.
God knew me before He formed me in my mother’s womb. He also knew the plans that He had for me before I was born. These are very comforting words to me. I’m grateful that God is sovereign and that He granted me repentance and faith in Jesus. Oh, but before God converted me, He convicted me over the verses Matthew 7:21-23 that I just read. I was petrified that Jesus was going to look at me on Judgment Day and say depart from me, I never knew you.
The Lord Jesus Doesn’t Have amnesia
Jesus doesn’t have amnesia. No what He means by He never knew you is that you never repented and put your faith in Him. Jesus is the great Shepherd. His sheep know his voice. His followers listen to Him. Jesus said if you love Me, keep My commandments (John 14:15). Keeping the commandments doesn’t save you, but you desire to please the Lord, to serve Him, when you are saved. Those of us who have been born again have passed from death unto life.
Is Jesus going to tell you that He never knew you on Judgement Day? Are you going to continue barreling down the broad road to destruction and suffer eternal damnation after you die? It’s salvation or damnation. There is no third option. Either Jesus saves you from your sins or He damns you for all eternity. Which is it going to be?
Will Jesus say, “I knew you” on Judgment Day or is He going to say, “Depart from me you worker of lawlessness, I never knew you? It will be one or the other. If God is convicting you over your sins and revealing His righteousness to you, listen to the Lord. Repent and submit your life to Jesus. Throw down all rebellion against Him. Repent from your sins and put your trust in Jesus. Trust the Lord for your salvation. Call upon the name of the Lord and be saved. Then Jesus will know you as one of His followers.
