I Gave That Up A Long Time Ago
Ministry Update June 16, 2019
There wasn’t much foot traffic downtown Friday night. I handed out less than 10 New Testaments at our normal witnessing spot. Then I walked to the square and about a half a block away I heard the name of Jesus being proclaimed. First Assembly in Strafford, MO had evidently obtained a permit for Friday night. I didn’t want to interrupt their service, so I handed out New Testaments to people standing near or sitting around the edge of the square. Afterward, I walked back to where I started. I offered New Testaments to two guys, but they both refused. The second guy said, “I gave that up a long time ago.”
Right or wrong, I didn’t feel like casting pearls before swine, so I just walked away without saying anything. After handing out a couple of more New Testaments, a security guard was in his car with the windows open. He asked what I had and I told him. He asked if he could have one and I said sure. I got back to the corner where I started and about five minutes later, here came the two guys that refused New Testaments, but this time two more guys were with them. I told the first guy that I knew he already said no, but I wanted to offer one to the guy walking next to him.
To my surprise, the friend reached over in front of the other guy and grabbed a New Testament. Then the last guy was also one I hadn’t offered one to yet. As he walked by, he wanted to know what it was, so I told him. He wanted to know what religion. I could be wrong, but I got the distinct impression that he wasn’t for Christianity. So I just said, “It’s just a New Testament.” He looked down at it and after saying Ok, he took one. The majority of people that refused New Testaments commented that they already had one. May God convict them to read their Bibles on a regular basis and may He convict the ones who received them Friday night to read them. May the Lord bless the New Testaments and may He save lost souls.
Blew A Kiss At Us
My wife and I witnessed at Planned Parenthood on Wednesday during the lunch hour. There were five cars there. No one interacted, but one girl walked over in front of me, but instead of saying anything, she just turned around and walked away. Several people at the restaurant next door heard the Gospel. One woman came out of Planned Parenthood and sat in her car for a little bit, listening to the message. But the most exciting thing that happened was an elderly woman drove by and my wife looked over at her. That’s when the elderly lady blew a kiss at us. That was very sweet and encouraging. May God bless the lady that encouraged us.
(These updates are given to encourage Christians to share the Gospel with others)
