I Don’t Want To Hear This!
Ministry Update February 2, 2020
Kelly and I witnessed downtown Friday night and there was a good crowd, mainly due to the Aaron Watson concert at the Gillioz Theatre. We handed out Gospel tracts and both did open-air preaching. It was mainly quiet and I only remember one mocker. I was bringing a message when a guy and two girls walked up from behind us. One of the girls yelled real loudly, “I DON’T WANT TO HEAR THIS!” I just ignored her and kept open-air preaching. They crossed the street in front of us going West and then immediately crossed the next street going North. While they were crossing the second street, the girl that yelled, dropped what she was carrying and had to bend down to pick it up. This whole time she was still hearing the message. As I recently mentioned, people can’t unhear what they hear, even if they don’t want to hear it.
Zero Interactions
It seemed like roughly half of the students took tracts when offered them at Missouri State University on Wednesday. But the toughest part was there were zero interactions with students while open-air preaching. It was a tough message about the tragic death of Kobe Bryant, his daughter and the seven others on the helicopter that crashed on Sunday January 26, 2020. Maybe it was because of the topic, but no one said anything, good or bad. No mockers and no encouragers are always the worst. An encouragement every now and then is obviously nice and at least with mockers you know they hear you and the hope is that God is convicting them over their sins. I always pray that God will grant them repentance and faith in Jesus. But when students are apathetic, you just can’t gauge whether they are listening or not.
(These updates are given to encourage Christians to share the Gospel with others. We are to go, stand and speak the words of eternal life and the results are not up to us. Salvation is of the Lord.)
