How Do You Get To Heaven?
Ministry Update March 10, 2019
Aaron Lewis, the former Stained frontman drew a sold out crowd at the Gillioz Theatre Friday night. So Pastor Joshua and I were blessed to witness then, even though it was cold and windy. We both brought messages and there was a good crowd waiting to go into the theater. While Pastor Joshua preached, a couple that was smoking stood near the building across from us and they were listening to his message.
While I was bringing a message, Pastor Joshua was across the street handing out tracts. His best conversation was with a guy that refused a tract. Then Pastor Joshua asked him if he believes in an after life and the guy said he does. He believes in Jesus, Satan, Heaven and Hell. So then Pastor Joshua invited him to come back and talk to him and asked the young man, “How do you get to Heaven?”
I Don’t Know
When asked how do you get to Heaven, the man said, “I don’t know.” That was the perfect opportunity for Pastor Joshua to share the Gospel with him and he did. As the young man was leaving, he then took the tract that Pastor Joshua offered a second time. While they were having their conversation, the young woman that was with the young man, sat down listening to the message I was bringing from across the street. It has been several weeks since this has happened, but we had a car going the wrong way down Jefferson. Luckily, the other drivers were aware of the situation and they allowed the driver to turn in front of them as she went toward the square.
An encourager shook my hand while I was open-air preaching. Also, while I was bringing a message, a guy stopped near me to cross the street, so I handed him a New Testament and he took it. Then a woman was walking with her young daughter near me, so I stopped open-air preaching and offered her a New Testament. She said she didn’t need one. Then I asked about her daughter. The woman asked her daughter if she wanted one and she said yes, so I gladly handed one to her. They turned around and started across the street and I had to warn them to watch out for the car that was heading right toward them. May God bless the messages, tracts and New Testaments that were handed out.
Heckled Just Walking Down The Sidewalk
I got heckled just walking down the sidewalk on Wednesday at MSU while heading toward the witnessing spot. Don’t know if they guy recognized my hat or what, but I thought it was interesting that the Mustang driver heckled me when I wasn’t open-air preaching or handing out tracts. It was a pretty quiet, cold day, but Jeremy told me that he’s a fellow believer and he wanted to know why I open-air preach. He wanted to know what the goal is. I told him the goal is to plant seeds.
Then I further explained that maybe someone will ask him or other believers about what that crazy guy preaching was saying. I told Jeremy that if that happens, he can respond by asking what I said that was so crazy. Maybe that will open up an opportunity for him to share the Gospel with others. Then we had a polite discussion of what the main purpose was of Jesus’ ministry. Jeremy thinks it was to help people.
I politely disagreed, that His main mission was preaching the Gospel. I didn’t think of it on the spot, but I should have told him the miracles proved that Jesus is the Messiah. That was the main purpose of the miracles. May God bless the 30 New Testaments that were handed out and my favorite line of the day was from a young woman that said no thank you to the offer of a New Testament because she already had her Bible in her backpack. Praise God for young believers. May they be filled with holy boldness to share the glorious Gospel with this lost and dying world.
