Going The Wrong Way
Ministry Update November 25 2018
Going the wrong way in more ways than one described witnessing downtown Friday night. Even though Conner and I had a slow night, we saw people going the wrong way while driving and people going the wrong way spiritually. People driving the wrong way is a real concern because someone can get hurt or even killed. But people going the wrong way spiritually is an even greater concern. Those who die in their sins will be damned forever.
While I was bringing the first message, a car pulled out of the parking lot across the street from us and headed the wrong way down a one-way street. Sadly, this isn’t an uncommon occurrence. Instead of going the right direction a half a block away and turning at a light, many people come out of the parking lot the wrong way and turn right at the corner where we witness. I expected the driver Friday night to turn at the corner, but they didn’t. The driver kept going the wrong way. So I looked their direction and said, “You’re going the wrong way.” They finally turned and got off the one-way street.
You’re Going The Wrong Way
Then while Conner was open-air preaching, a car tried to turn left, coming from the direction of the square and they were about to go the wrong direction. I started waving my arm and yelled, “You’re going the wrong way.” I don’t think the driver heard me, but I think they saw the do not enter sign and swerved at the last second and continued straight on the street they were originally on. We also witnessed two cars that nearly crashed. It’s amazing how many drivers don’t pay attention that the cross traffic doesn’t stop and they pull right out in front of other cars.
Conner had one mocker while preaching. A young man with couple of his friends mouthed off and kept walking. After Conner finished his message, Allen and his friend Johnny walked up to us. They were witnessing with another group of people a couple of blocks away. They tried to hand tracts to a group of guys who said they had already gotten tracts from your other people earlier. Since we don’t really witness together, Allen and his friend came over to visit with us.
Do You Want To Hear About It?
Conner and I were just heading up to the square to hand out tracts, so these two guys walked with us. As we were walking, a couple walked to a parking lot before we could get to them. So Allen yelled, “We are out sharing Good News, do you want to hear about it?” To which the man replied no, they didn’t. A couple of other guys refused tracts that we offered them.
Allen and Johnny went back to the corner where they were witnessing. Conner and I walked to the square. When we got there, we only saw one group that was taking pictures by the Christmas tree in the square. After they took their pictures, Conner handed them tracts. A couple of them took tracts, but interestingly, they didn’t speak English. We are hoping they know someone that can read and interpret the tracts for them.
As Conner and I walked back from the square, I tried to hand a tract to a guy who said, “No, I’m good.” We hear this a lot. No, people are not good. There is none good but God. Then we saw a crowd by the Gillioz Theatre, so we crossed the street and handed some tracts out there before we called it a night. Yes, we witnessed drivers going the wrong way. We also encountered others who by their responses, are spiritually going the wrong way. May God convict and convert lost souls. May He draw them to Himself and grant them repentance and faith in Jesus Christ our Lord.
Only One Car
My wife went with me when I witnessed at Planned Parenthood on Wednesday. Typically, there are five or six cars when we witness there during the lunch hour, but this day there was only one car. I brought a message explaining how God hates hands that shed innocent blood and toward the end of the message, two girls came out and got into their car. They were laughing at the message as they approached their car. I stopped the message and said, “If you are thinking about getting an abortion, don’t do it.” They both just kept laughing as they got into the car. I don’t believe we had any drive by mockers (which is unusual) and I saw my wife wave to one encourager as they drove by.
(These updates are given to encourage Christians to share the Gospel with others. We have no control over whether people accept or reject the Gospel. Christians are called to evangelize, but salvation is of the Lord. God draws lost souls to Himself. Please, go and share the words of eternal life with someone.)
