Five of us went to the Rodney Carrington concert at the Shrine Mosque in Springfield, MO to witness the other night. I was there with Brad with Repent and Turn Ministries and Greg, Bruce and Brandon with Born of Him Ministries. This was Brandon’s first time to come out with us (he has been involved with evangelism in the past, but not with street evangelism).
The evening started out slow, so Brandon and I walked up the street to the Expo Center where they were holding a survivalist conference. We were witnessing there, handing out tracts and getting into a some one to one conversations. Brad, Greg and Bruce were doing the same thing at the Shrine Mosque. Greg came up and got us and said that a crowd was starting to gather outside the concert.
Brandon and I went back and joined our friends. We were handing out tracts and a young man rode by us on a bicycle while he was talking on the phone. All of a sudden he turned around and rode his bike right up to Brandon and started talking to him. Brandon witnessed to the young man for about 15 minutes and they had a great conversation. It appears that the young man was under conviction.
The young man on the bicycle had been talking to his mother and she was telling him that he needed to be saved. You see, Bruce was holding a large cross and the young man saw the cross at the same time his mother told him he needed to be saved.
Personally, I don’t believe in coincidences: 1. This was Brandon’s first time coming out with us. 2. Bruce “decided” to bring the cross with him that night. 3. Greg talked us into coming back down to the concert just minutes before the bicycler rode by us. 4. The young man “happened” to be talking to his mother about salvation at the exact moment that he saw a large cross. (How many times have you seen someone holding a cross in public?)
It seems like a lot of different things happened at the exact time when they needed to that night. Also, Greg got up and open-air preached as the crowd gathered before the concert. After he was done he asked me if I wanted to preach and I said that I did. I preached for about five minutes or so and I finished at 6:36 pm. At that moment, they opened the doors and the people went into the concert. You have to realize that the doors were supposed to open at 6:30 pm. When we are out witnessing, it seems like they even open the doors earlier than the stated start times.
Another thing that happened that night is the amplifier that we normally use had a dead battery. A local radio station had a van set up across the street from the Shrine Mosque with the speakers blaring. Nobody would have heard Greg and I preach if we had been preaching without amplification. But Brad brought a bull horn along with him and it worked perfectly. Were all of these things just coincidences? I don’t think so. God’s timing is perfect.
If you are Christian you need share your faith with others. God is in control, but He chooses to work through us humans. God wants to work through you. Will you let Him? God has already commanded you in Mark 16:15 to “Go into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” Are you being obedient to God? Pray and read your Bible every day and boldly proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ. I pray that God gives you His strength and His courage to witness to the lost!

Rom 10:15 And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!”

Excellent article on the events that night. Wish I could have made it there.
But, what a great testimony of Gods providence.
To God be all the Glory.
