God Is Not Indifferent
Earlier tonight a young lady told us that she’s a Christian and that’s not uncommon. Sometimes people tell us they are an atheist. Also while out street witnessing, sometimes we hear people say that they really aren’t for God and they aren’t against Him. They are just neutral to God; they can take Him or leave Him. But this simply isn’t true. No one is neutral to God. You are either for Him or against Him. Oh, you either love God and obey Him or you are an unrepentant sinner still spiritually dead in your trespasses and sins. You are not indifferent to God and God is not indifferent to you.
People that say they are indifferent to God are liars. They are suppressing the truth in unrighteousness. Your sin separates you from God. Unrepentant sinners have made themselves enemies to God. Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God (James 4:4). Unrepentant sinners, you are not just neutral, you are God’s enemy! This should scare you!
Another example of suppressing the truth in unrighteousness is LGBTQ professing Christians. They always throw in that if homosexuality is a sin, then so is wearing clothing of mixed fabrics and eating shrimp. Instead of repenting of their sin, they suppress the truth in unrighteousness and feel good about “safety in numbers”. It doesn’t matter if you are following the rest of the world to Hell, you still are going to Hell. There is no safety in numbers when it comes to salvation and suppressing the truth to justify your sin is still sinning against God.
We Are Not Indifferent
No one is indifferent and no one seeks after God until He first seeks after them. Jesus said, No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day (John 6:44). There is none that understands, there is none that seeks after God (Romans 3:11). You are not indifferent to God. Either you love Him and you have repented of your sins and put your trust in Jesus or you are still a rebel, still making yourself God’s enemy. It is one or the other. Which is it tonight? Are you a child of God’s or are you still blaspheming God’s Holy name through your thoughts, words and actions?
You and I are not indifferent to God and God is not indifferent to you. That’s right, God is not indifferent to you. In Ephesians 2:1-10, the Apostle Paul is talking to Christians and he states: And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now works in the children of disobedience:
Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others. But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
Is God Angry With You?
God’s wrath abides upon unrepentant sinners. You are a child of wrath tonight if you are out seeking to fulfill the lusts of the flesh and the desires of the flesh and mind. Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passes away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abides forever (1 John 2:15-17).
If this describes you tonight, God is angry with you over your sins. You are a child of disobedience. (Notice that you aren’t indifferent, you are disobedient to God). The foolish shall not stand in your sight: you hate all workers of iniquity (Psalm 5:5). God judges the righteous, and God is angry with the wicked every day (Psalm 7:11). He that believes on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believes not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abides on him (John 3:36).
To me belongs vengeance and recompense; their foot shall slide in due time: for the day of their calamity is at hand, and the things that shall come upon them make haste (Deuteronomy 32:35). In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power (2 Thessalonians 1:8-9).
God’s Wrath Abides Upon Unrepentant Sinners
I have quoted a lot of Bible verses tonight concerning God’s wrath over unrepentant sinners. Why? Because it is the truth, it is reality. The flames of Hell awaits those who die in their rebellion against God. Secondly, I want you to hear and understand that God is not indifferent. All of us are going to die one day and it’s Heaven or Hell after that. No third option. If you die as an unrepentant sinner, you will suffer God’s righteous anger over your sins for all eternity.
Oh, but if you die as a child of God’s, you die with God’s love abiding upon you where it will abide forever. True followers of Jesus Christ receive everlasting life. God will never leave us nor forsake us. We are His and nothing and no one can take us out of His hand. In John 10:27-29 Jesus said, My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand.
Jesus Is The Good Shepherd
Also in John 10:14-18 Jesus says: I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine. As the Father knows me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep. And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd. Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again. No man takes it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.
Jesus is the Good Shepherd. He lays down His life for His sheep and His sheep hear His voice. Oh, do you hear the Savior calling? Do you recognize tonight that you have sinned against God and there is nothing that you can do to erase your sins? Do you understand that your sin separates you from the love of God and will do so for all eternity if you die a guilty sinner? I (Jesus) said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins (John 8:24).
Don’t Die In Your Sins And Go To Hell
Do not die in your sins and go to Hell. No, instead, repent and believe the Gospel. Recognize that you are sinner, that you have offended God who is Holy. Cry out for God to save you. Repent of your sins and surrender your life fully and completely to Jesus. Please notice that I’m not asking you to repeat a prayer or ask Jesus into your heart. No, Jesus said you must deny yourself, pick up your cross and follow Him daily. It is dying to self and living unto Christ. Jesus says “Follow me”. He doesn’t tell us to “make decisions” for Him. No, it is complete and utter submission to King Jesus.
Our Lord also said that we are to count the cost. It costs you to be a true follower of Jesus. Those of us who are truly saved, look foolish to this lost and dying world. For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent. Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?
Fear God Instead Of Man
For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe. For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom: But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumbling block, and unto the Greeks foolishness; But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God (1 Corinthians 1:18-24). Oh, don’t worry about what anybody else thinks. Don’t worry about looking foolish to the world. Fear God instead of man. God commands all people everywhere to repent (Acts 17:30). If God is convicting you over your sins and revealing His Holiness to you, repent and believe the Gospel. Turn from your sins and turn to Jesus. Turn to Jesus and live.
God is not indifferent. He loves those that are His own but unrepentant sinners who die in their rebellion will suffer His righteous wrath for all eternity. Do not die in your sins and go to Hell. Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord (Acts 3:19). Repent and be converted. Come to Jesus and receive life, everlasting life. You are not indifferent to God and He is not indifferent to you. Do you love God or hate Him? Are you Heaven bound or Hell bound? Repent of your sins and trust Jesus to save you. Trust in Christ alone for your salvation and be saved.
