Have you ever had a friend that invaded your personal space? You know, someone who stands too close to you when they talk to you? Or have you ever had an acquaintance that kept coming around bothering you and annoying you when all you wanted was to be left alone?
We have all had (may still have) friends and acquaintances like that. You know how annoying it is. If you’re like me, you probably just put up with it. But deep inside you just want to scream at them, “GET AWAY FROM ME!”
I was reading Matthew 7:21-23 the other day. These are the verses where Jesus says that not everyone who says to Him Lord, Lord will enter the kingdom of heaven. In verse 22 Jesus says that people will protest that they did wonderful things in the name of Jesus. Then the killer verse is 23 where Jesus says, “And then will I profess to them, I never knew you, depart from me, you that work iniquity (lawlessness).”
Wow! Jesus is going to basically say to some people on Judgment Day “Get Away From Me, I never knew you.” He is going to say this to people who have never repented from their sins and put their trust in Him. Have you ever thought much about these verses? I mean, when a rapist, murder, or truly evil person stands before Jesus on Judgment Day do think they are going to protest to Jesus but we prophesied in your name? Or we cast out demons in your name? Or we did many wonderful works in your name? No, I think these types of people are going to realize (when it’s too late) that they were wrong and that they are going to be punished for their actions.
So who is Jesus talking about in these verses? He’s obviously talking about people who think that they are Christians or at least think that they are good people.
This is so important. Please don’t wait until Judgment Day to realize that you were wrong. The Bible clearly states that we are going to be judged by the 10 Commandments on Judgment Day. NONE OF US can measure up to this standard. Jesus Christ, is the only person who ever lived a perfect, sinless life. Who always obeyed God in the letter and the spirit of the Law. There is no salvation in any other.
If you are not saved, please get right with God today! (You have to quit trusting that you can save yourself). Admit to God that you are a sinner. Ask Him to forgive you. Repent by turning away from your sins and turning toward God. Then, put your full faith and trust in Jesus Christ alone to save you. Please, run to Jesus today before it’s too late. Before you hear those horrible words on Judgment Day, “Get Away From Me, I never knew you!”
