From Mocking To Listening To Questioning
Ministry Update May 29, 2022
It was a real privilege Friday night to meet some Facebook friends in real life and witness together. I met Trevor, Elly and their girls and we shared the Gospel in downtown Springfield, MO. I noticed that people took tracts from the girls and sometimes the people would walk a little ways away and stop and read the tracts. Their youngest daughter was very brave. She held a sign that said judge with righteous judgment and a couple walked by walking a dog. All of a sudden the dog started barking at her, but she never flinched. But the highlight of the night was when two boys went from mocking to listening to questioning.
Sign Carrying Dancing Mockers
Trevor was open-air preaching and various people stopped and listened at different times. But two young boys that looked to be about middle school aged, walked up to Trevor, both holding signs and one of them even started dancing around. I couldn’t see the front of the signs, but Trevor said they were pro-abortion signs and one of the kids had a Satanic marking on his arm. The boys laughed and looked like they were having a great time making fun of the open-air preacher, but they stood there a long time. I just kept thinking that at least they are hearing the Gospel. They listened until Trevor finished up and to our surprise, they even started asking Trevor questions. They stood around talking for 10 minutes! We praise God that these boys went from mocking to listening to questioning.
Before Trevor brought his message about how Jesus didn’t come for the righteous, I brought a short message on Heaven and Hell. After my message, I crossed the street and handed out tracts there. I handed one to a young man named Bryson. He thanked me and then he started to walk away. But I said, “If you died tonight, would you go to Heaven or Hell?” He really thought about it and replied, “Probably Hell.” Then I asked him if that concerned him. He said that it might when it was later. I reminded him that none of us know when we are going to die. God forbid, we could be hit by a drunk driver this very night. When I asked him if he had a Bible at home he said that he did. I encouraged him to read it and told him that I think Matthew 7:21-23 are some of the scariest verses in the Bible. I noticed that as Bryson headed to his car that he stopped and listened to some of Trevor’s message before he drove off.
Clicking Your Heels
Again, I had a wonderful time witnessing with Trevor, Elly and their girls. They are a wonderful family that I pray God greatly blesses. As we talked after witnessing, we all agreed that God is sovereign and we are merely instruments in His hands and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will be glorified either way – whether people receive or reject the Gospel. But it is so encouraging to see someone go from mocking to listening to questioning. As Ray Comfort says after a witnessing experience like that, you go home clicking your heels. Please check out Trevor and Elly’s website Rescue The Perishing. May Jesus Christ be glorified.
(These updates are provided to encourage Christians to share the glorious Gospel with others. We encourage you to hand out tracts, learn how to share your testimony in three to five minutes – focusing on Jesus, hand out Bibles.)
