First Mockers Then Encouragers
Ministry Update December 11, 2022
Friday night was a bit of a strange night, witnessing wise because it was first mockers then encouragers. The mockers showed up while we were handing out tracts. I got to our witnessing spot before Michael did, so I handed out tracts until he got there and I had two different cars full of mockers. One even pulled into a parking lot near me and yelled as they pulled into the lot and then yelled again when they drove away. All I was doing was handing out tracts. No signs, no open air preaching (at that point). Then when Michael got there, we were handing out tracts on the same corner and a passenger in a truck yelled at me while I was getting more tracts out of my witnessing bag. He yelled, “Shake that a__.” I yelled back that he needs to repent and trust Jesus.
It’s been a while since we had that many mockers while handing out tracts. Michael prayed that God would send people our way to hear the message and that God would bless any conversations that we got into. I brought a message at that point and a couple different people came over and talked to Michael. They both appeared to be believers. Then toward the end of my message a guy walked and stood near me so I asked him if he had any questions. He told me no, that he was just listening and he thanked me for sharing the Gospel.
Do You Remember Me?
Then as I was finishing up a young lady walked up and said, “Do you remember me?” I apologized and said that I didn’t. But as we talked for a minute, I did remember her. Serenity used to come out witnessing with us when she was a teenager. I hadn’t seen her in five or six years, so it took me a minute to recognize her. She told me that she heard me about a block away and she said to herself, “I know that voice.” Anyway, we had a great time catching up. While Serenity and I were talking, two different guys walked up to us. They weren’t together, they just arrived at the same time. The first one spoke up and said that it sounded like I was sharing truth and he thanked me for doing so and shook my hand.
The second guy told me that he only moved to Springfield a couple of months ago and that he wanted to witness too. I asked him if he knows how to witness and he said that he knows how to share his testimony. We talked about that for a bit and how some people tend to glorify their old sinful lifestyle, but the main focus should be on Christ and what He has done for us. The young man agreed. I then asked him if he’s heard of Ray Comfort and Living Waters ministry and he said that he hasn’t. So I recommended that he check out Living Waters and I also invited him to join us on Friday nights to hand out tracts. He told me his name is Boaz. I said something about that being a biblical name and he smiled and said “Yes it is.” It was a strange night in that we had mockers while handing out tracts and encouragers while open air preaching. But it was a good night of witnessing and Michael and I had a good time of fellowship.
No Mockers and No Encouragers
There weren’t any mockers or encouragers at MSU on Wednesday. I brought a message and handed out tracts. A lot of students took tracts which was good. Toward the end of my message a grounds keeper rode up in a gator or gator type vehicle and started blowing rocks with a leaf blower right next to me. This is the third time in a row that they’ve done this type of thing. So even though I was finished with the message, I kept preaching because I don’t want them to think that they can run me off. May God have mercy on them and their wickedness of trying to hamper the Gospel from going forth.
(These updates are given to encourage true believers to share their faith in Jesus with others)
