If you don’t believe in God do you consider yourself an enemy of God? What if you are a false convert (For an example of a false convert go to My Testimony), do you think you are an enemy of God?
I ask these questions because I was reading James 4:4 the other day and it states “You adulterers and adulteresses, do you not know that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? Whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.” (Adulterer here means more than sexual immorality. It means anything that you put above God).
Whoa. Hold on a minute. These are very strong words. Webster’s Dictionary says Enmity means enemy, hatred, hostility, animosity, a state of deep-seated ill-will. So what does friendship mean? The state of being friends, the quality of being friendly, friendliness. Again, the Bible verse says that if you are a friend of the world, you are an enemy of God.
Another verse that is very similar is 1 John 2:15 and it says, love not the world neither the things that are in the world. If any man loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. I don’t know about you, but about the last thing I want to be accused of on Judgment Day is being an enemy of God or being told that God doesn’t love me.
If you are currently an enemy of God, I plead with you to change your ways. Please turn away from your sins (your love of the world, your love of your sins, your selfishness, your self righetousness) and turn toward God (love God, love what God stands for: love, justice, righteousness, mercy, grace) and put your faith in the Lord Jesus Christ (trust Jesus completely, surrender your life fully to Him). Please don’t delay, do this today. Please go to the tab How to Be Saved for more information on salvation.
