Encouraged
It was windy, but a warmer day on Wednesday when I witnessed in front of Planned Parenthood. I quoted Genesis 1:1. Then read the verses of the first chapter where God created the animals after their kind and man and woman after God’s own image. That’s when a woman pulled into the parking lot and walked up to me. I stopped reading Scripture and looked up at her. You never know if someone is a friend or a foe when they come up to you like that. But she smiled and shook my hand. She said something like may God bless you with many blessings. Just for being there in front of Planned Parenthood. I was greatly encouraged by that.
She wanted to know what I was saying so I told her. I was getting ready to read about how God told Jeremiah that he knew him before He formed him in the womb (Jeremiah 1:5). Also where David says that he was fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14). I invited her to stand with me and she graciously accepted my invitation.
Before I could even finish reading both Bible verses, two women came charging out of Planned Parenthood yelling at the woman that she had to leave. I thanked her for stopping by and she smiled and left as ordered by the workers. You see the workers never know if someone is stopping to cuss us out or on our side. So they wait to see what happens before they stay silent or come rushing out to run them off.
Encouraged Each Other
I think my being there encouraged the woman that stopped and she encouraged me with her kind words and the fact that she took time to stop and talk to me. When I first told her what I was reading, she said “so you are peacefully protesting”. I’ve never had anyone call my preaching in front of Planned Parenthood peaceful protesting, but I couldn’t argue with her. Again, I think the encouragement worked both ways. After she left, I explained to the workers inside Planned Parenthood that God considers pregnant women in the Bible as “being with child”. God considers the baby in the womb a child (Isaiah 26:17). Not a fetus. Not a clump of cells, but an actual child. A child that is just pre-born, but a child nevertheless.
Hate The Same As Murder
I also told them that God hates the shedding of innocent blood and how John says that hate is the same thing as murder (1 John 3:15). I told them that I don’t hate them. It’s out of love that I come over and share the Gospel with them, but they very well could look out the front door at me with hate. I explained that if God considers hate murder in your heart, how much more does He hate the actual murdering of little babies in the womb?
I tried to explain to them that God’s wrath abides upon them right now (John 3:36) and His righteous wrath will abide upon them in eternal torment if they continue in their sins (2 Thessalonians 1:8); if they die as unrepentant sinners. I pleaded with them to come out of that dark place, to repent and surrender their lives to Jesus. They appeared as apathetic as usual, but they were warned and pleaded with to repent and trust Jesus. Folks, abortion is murder and it must end.
(These updates are given to encourage Christians to share the glorious Gospel of Jesus Christ our Lord with this lost and dying world. Evangelism is something you can’t do in Heaven, so if you are truly saved, evangelize now, while you still can.)
