Do You Know Jesus?
Do you know Jesus? Have you repented and put your faith in the Lord Jesus Christ? The question isn’t do you go church or were you raised in church? The question isn’t do you know about Jesus? Do you know how He fed the 5,000, walked on water, calmed the storm or healed the sick or raised the dead? No the question isn’t do you know about Jesus or know about the things that He has done, but do you know Jesus? Is He Lord of your life?
John 1:1-10 states: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
John The Baptist – The Witness
There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe. He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
Jesus is the Word. He is God. All things were made by him and the Lord Jesus is the life and He is the Light. Jesus came to this world, the world that He created and the world knew Him not. So again I ask you – Do you know Jesus? Or are you one of the ones that knew Him not? These are important questions. The Bible says Jesus came unto his own but his own rejected him. He came unto his own, and his own received him not (John 1:11).
Do You Know The Lord Jesus?
Do you know the Lord? Has God ever revealed your own wickedness to you and revealed Jesus’ righteousness to you? We are not picking on you tonight. All of us have sinned against God. God is too Holy, too righteous in His glory to look upon sin (Habakkuk 1:13). So a sin debt had or has to be paid. You and I cannot clean ourselves up. We cannot make ourselves right with God.
For example, you can tell a lie tonight, later you may feel sorry about that lie, you can apologize for it, but you can’t take it away. You can’t undo a lie. You and I don’t have that power. We can’t “wipe out” our sins. Only a higher power can cleanse you and make you whole. Salvation is of the Lord and the Lord Jesus Christ is the only Savior. There is no other. In Isaiah 43:11 God says: I, even I, am the Lord; and beside me there is no saviour.
Great God Of Heaven And Earth
Isaiah 45:18-22 states: For thus saith the Lord that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I am the Lord; and there is none else. I have not spoken in secret, in a dark place of the earth: I said not unto the seed of Jacob, Seek ye me in vain: I the Lord speak righteousness, I declare things that are right.
Assemble yourselves and come; draw near together, ye that are escaped of the nations: they have no knowledge that set up the wood of their graven image, and pray unto a god that cannot save. Tell ye, and bring them near; yea, let them take counsel together: who hath declared this from ancient time? who hath told it from that time? have not I the Lord? and there is no God else beside me; a just God and a Saviour; there is none beside me. Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.
Why Do We Need A Savior?
We need a Savior because we’ve all sinned against God. We’ve all fallen short of the mark. Sin means to miss the mark. That’s why God sent His only Son Jesus to suffer and die on the cruel cross to take the punishment that we deserve. Jesus, the, sinless One paid the sin debt that He did not owe. Jesus takes your sins upon Himself and credits you with His righteousness when/if you repent and believe the Gospel. It’s the great exchange.
The Lord Jesus suffered, bled and died on the cross and rose victoriously from the grave three days later. My friends and I serve a risen Savior. Salvation is for all who recognize their sinfulness and who cry out for God to save them. Is this you tonight? Do you know the risen Lord? Do you know Him? Do you know Jesus?
You Have Not Met Him If…
If you’ve never repented of your sins and put your faith in Jesus, then you have not met Him. Acts 17:30-31 says: And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent: Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead (Acts 17:30-31).
God commands us to repent. It’s not a suggestion or some kind of wishful thinking. No, it’s a command! God is going to judge the world in righteousness and that judgment will come through Jesus Christ the Lord. We encourage you tonight to recognize that you have sinned against God, that you have offended Him. Cry out for God to forgive you. Repent and believe the Gospel.
Confess And Believe
Romans 10:8-10 states: But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Yes, salvation is of the Lord. Do you know Jesus?
For those who walked an aisle when your were 5, 6, 8, 10 or 12 years old (or maybe all of these or similar times) and you think that you’ve been there and done that, I ask you to consider tonight, Matthew 7:21-23 where Jesus says: Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. Oh, do you hear Jesus’ words tonight? He’s saying there are going to be false converts. Some people claim Jesus with their lips while their heart is far from Him.
Going To Be Some Shocked People On Judgment Day
Jesus says that not everyone who professes to be a Christian is going to enter into Heaven. Please notice the list that Jesus spells out: some are going to say they prophesied on behalf of Jesus. Others are going to say that they cast out demons. I don’t know about you, but I’ve never cast out a demon. But some who have, Jesus is going to tell them on Judgement Day, “Depart from Me, I never knew you.”
There are going to be some shocked people on Judgment Day. Folks, these may be the scariest verses in the Bible. I know we live in the Bible Belt, but did you know that some of the worst times I’ve been cussed out while street witnessing have come from professing Christians? Not everyone who says to me Lord, Lord shall enter into the kingdom of Heaven.
Oh professing Christian, are you sure that you are saved? Have you truly repented and surrendered your life to Jesus? Is he Lord of your life. Do you know Jesus? More importantly, does Jesus know you? Are you one of His own? What does Jesus tell true believers to do? Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? (Matthew 16:24-26)
Are You Truly A Follower Of Jesus?
Professing Christian, does this sound like you? Do you deny yourself, pick up your cross and follow Jesus? Are you truly a follower of the Lord Jesus Christ? Are you truly saved? Do you know Jesus and does the Lord know you? The Bible says that we are to examine ourselves to see if we are in the faith. Second Corinthians 13:5 says: Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?
Do you know Jesus? Are you blood bought child of God? Is Jesus truly your Lord and Savior? Have you repented of your sins and surrendered your life to Jesus? He is the King of kings and the Lord of lords. Every knee will bow to Him Will you do so willingly in this life? Will you repent and believe the Gospel? Oh, come to Jesus Christ the Lord and be saved. Turn to Christ Jesus and live. Do this today. Your sins can be forgiven, your conscience can be cleared. God will cast your sins as far as the East is from the West, if you repent and surrender your life to Jesus.
