Do You Believe God’s Word?
Do you believe God’s word? Do you believe the Bible? In 2017 Barna did a study and found that only 17% of professing Christians in America hold to a biblical worldview. Their definition of a biblical worldview was “believing that absolute moral truth exists; the Bible is totally accurate in all of the principles it teaches; Satan is considered to be a real being or force, not merely symbolic; a person cannot earn their way into Heaven by trying to be good or do good works; Jesus Christ lived a sinless life on earth; and God is the all-knowing, all-powerful creator of the world who still rules the universe today.”
So you see why I’m questioning: Do you believe God’s word? It is a valid question. If only 17% of professing Christians have a biblical worldview, that means a lot of professing Christians do not hold to a biblical worldview. So what’s wrong with not having a biblical worldview? For one thing, you are placing yourself above God. You are making your own self a little g god and you are saying that you know better than the one true God, who HAS revealed Himself in Scripture.
How Do Y0u Choose?
How foolish is that? How do you pick and choose which parts you believe and which parts you don’t believe? Could you be wrong? Since you are not all-powerful, all-knowing and ever-present, then you could very well be wrong and if you don’t hold to a true biblical worldview then you most definitely are wrong. Because God is all-powerful, all-knowing and ever-present and He has given us His word.
Maybe you don’t really know if you hold to a biblical worldview or not. Here’s an easy test. Listen to Genesis 1 and see if you agree with God: In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day. And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.
Heaven And Earth
And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so. And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day. And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so. And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good.
And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so. And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good. And the evening and the morning were the third day.
And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so. And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.
And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth, And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good. And the evening and the morning were the fourth day. And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven.
Created After Their Kind
And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good. And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth. And the evening and the morning were the fifth day.
And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so. And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good.
And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
Male And Female
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat. And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so. And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.
Great Creator God
Genesis 1:1 points out that God is the great Creator. Genesis 1:2 mentions the Holy Spirit and in Genesis 1:26 God says let Us make man in Our image – the image of God the Father and Jesus the Son. The triune God – God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit were involved in creation. Do you believe God’s word?
Yes, Genesis 1 shows that God created the Heaven and the earth, the sun, moon and stars, creatures, birds and humans. All are made after their kind. No evolution. No primordial ooze. We were not made from star dust and human beings did not evolve from monkeys. (For many years now, educators have shown the picture of apes turning into humans.
No Half Creatures!
Here’s a question for those of you who do not believe God’s word, we have evidence today of apes – dead and alive, we have evidence of humans – dead and alive, how come there is no evidence of any half creatures in between? Not a single one, dead or alive. Why? Because God made each after their kind! There is not a shred of evidence for macro-evolution. There are changes within species, but there are no changes from one species to another one.
God made us male and female. Two genders – male and female. You don’t like this? Take it up with the great Creator God. He made us and He made us male and female. Do you believe God? Do you believe His word? It’s appointed unto man once to die but after this the judgement (Hebrews 9:27).
Why Do People Reject God’s Word?
Why do people reject God and reject His word? Because they don’t want to be accountable to the great Creator, to Almighty God. It’s that simple. They do not want to bow the knee to King Jesus. Unbelievers say, “We will not have this man reign over us.” They do not want to surrender to Jesus as their Lord and Savior.
But Jesus is the only Savior of mankind. There is no other. Repent or perish. Again, unbelievers don’t want to hear this. They want to “reign over their own lives”. But let’s face it, you can’t add one second to your life. You don’t have that power. You are alive today and you only take your next breath because of God’s mercy. One day His mercy will run out.
We need a Savior because we’ve all sinned against God. All of us have sinned. Each and every one of us. There is none that doeth good, no not one (Romans 3:12). The penalty of sin is death, yes physical death but even worse than that is the second death, which is never ending death. It is eternal punishment in the lake of fire and brimstone. All unbelievers who die in their sins, who die outside of Christ Jesus are headed to the lake of fire and brimstone. The wages of sin is death.
Salvation Is Found In Jesus Alone
Oh, but we don’t want you to die in your sins and go to Hell. Salvation is found in Jesus alone because He is the only Savior. Jesus suffered, bled and died on the cross in the place of guilty sinners. God poured His wrath over sin out upon His own sinless, precious Son as Jesus hung on that wretched cross. The Lord died there and was buried. Jesus rose from the grave three days later. He defeated sin, death, Hell and Satan.
Eternal life is for all who repent and surrender their lives to Jesus. Come to Jesus and be saved. Turn to Christ and live. Receive forgiveness for your sins. Your guilty conscience can be cleared. Confess and forsake your sins. Truly surrender your life to Jesus and be saved.
Our lives are but a vapor. We are here today and gone tomorrow. You may not have tomorrow. This may be your last day on this earth. Get right with God and do so tonight. Jesus Christ is the King of kings and the Lord of lords. Every knee will bow to Him, but do so in this life and receive eternal life. Don’t foolishly die in your sins and go to Hell. Instead, repent and believe the Gospel.
Believer – Are You Obedient To Our Lord And Savior?
If you are listening to the message tonight and you are a follower of Jesus, please do what He told us to do. Jesus said go into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature (Mark 16:15). Be obedient to our Lord and Savior. We don’t all literally go into all the world as missionaries, but true believers can share the Gospel with others, wherever we go. Share the Gospel with family members, co-workers, even total strangers. Share your testimony, how God saved you when you repented and surrendered your life to Jesus. Life is short. Now is the time to share the Gospel with this lost and dying world. Believe God and believe His word.
