Deaf Ears
Ministry Update September 23, 2018
Last week was an encouraging, you might even say fun week of evangelizing. There were several conversations, I handed out Gospel tracts and invited people to my church. This Wednesday at MSU was not that way. One student sat and listened to part of the message, but I also had two mockers. One mouthed off something and kept walking (I call these student’s drive-by mockers) and the other mocker didn’t say a single word. He just took several pictures from different angles, but that was it. Sadly, the majority just walked by and appeared apathetic. It was one of those days where it appeared the message of the Gospel fell on deaf ears.
I pleaded with students to repent and surrender their lives to Jesus, but no one seemed to listen. Is there really no fear of God among students? Have they suppressed the truth so long and buried it so deep that they have convinced themselves that God isn’t real? I don’t know the answer to these questions, but seems like most students don’t believe in Heaven or Hell and don’t believe they will be punished for their sins. They really don’t believe in an eternal punishment.
But the Bible is very clear about this. There is judgment to come and all unrepentant sinners will bow their knee and confess with their tongue that Jesus Christ is Lord. They will do so before Jesus has His servants cast them into the lake of fire and brimstone which burns forever. It is a place of weeping and gnashing of teeth. But evidently many students don’t believe this, so the message falls on deaf ears. How about you reader? Do you fear God? Have you repented from your sins and put your trust in Jesus or are you like the students where the message to repent and believe the Gospel just falls on deaf ears?
A Listener And A Conversation
Pastor Joshua and Conner witnessed downtown Friday night. This is Pastor Joshua’s take on the night: Man on a bike stopped and listened to the entirety of Conner’s message. Handed out some tracks, had a long conversation with a man named John. He intellectually knows the gospel, but doesn’t “feel it in his heart.” He said he would come to church. I gave him a bible. Pray for him. This is a great request. May God save the man that heard Conner’s message, may God save John that Pastor Joshua talked to and may the lord bless the tracts that were handed out.
