Cowardice To Mouth Off Something And Walk Off
Ministry Update July 12, 2020
I’d say we typically have more mockers than not while open-air preaching and I’ve mentioned mockers many times when giving updates. But Friday night while Conner was open-air preaching a group of three guys walked by and one of them mouthed off. I didn’t think much of it (because it’s just the normal), but Conner had great insight. Conner boldly said, “It’s cowardice to mouth off something and walk off.” I’d never really thought about it, but he’s absolutely correct.
A person is a coward that mouths off something and walks away. If you really believed in your convictions, shouldn’t you stand up for what you believe? Mockers are cowards. If they weren’t, they’d have a real discussion. The mocker Friday night proved Conner’s point because even though Conner called him a coward and pointed out how cowardice it is to mouth off something and walk off, the mocker kept on walking.
I brought a message before Conner and I talked about how Jesus is Lord of all and how we praise our Lord and Savior. I said Hallelujah and a different group mouthed “Hallelujah” mockingly. Guess you could say they were another group of cowards. Conner and I handed out tracts at our normal spot and a couple with a young boy walked by. The woman took a tract. When Conner tried to hand one to the little boy, he said “I’m with them” and ran to catch up to them. Adults have said this before, but I don’t think we’ve ever heard a kid say this.
Read Ephesians, Flip Back To Philippians, Then Read The Book Of John
After the messages, we walked to the square and handed out tracts. We tried to get into a conversation with a gentleman. He implied that he a Christian so we asked him tell us the Gospel. He replied that he tells people, “Read Ephesians, flip back to Philippians, then read the book of John and he guarantees that you will be saved. Needless to say, Conner and I were both stunned.
We share the glorious Gospel with people, but God convicts and converts lost souls. He does the saving. Salvation is of the Lord. We can’t guarantee that someone will be saved. So I politely said to the guy, “What if I don’t make it home tonight to read the books of the Bible you’ve said I need to read? What happens if I die on the way home?” Then the guy assured me that I would make it home because we all have three angels watching over us. So I asked if he’s saying people never die in their sins?
Mad Over A Question?
Then he went off on a tangent and Conner tried to ask questions and reason with him. So I kept sneaking away and handing out tracts to people walking by us. Conner tried to get him to see that we’ve all sinned against God, but he didn’t want to admit that there are none righteous. Then I came back and asked him what was the first message Jesus preached when He walked the earth and the guy got mad and said he wasn’t going to answer that. With that, he just shut down. It was very sad because he didn’t have a biblical view of the Gospel. After that we handed out more tracts. Conner got into a conversation with another guy, but I didn’t hear what they said. Then Conner and I had a great time fellowshipping together before we called it night. May God be glorified by the messages and the tracts that were given out.
