Christ Is A Great Savior
John Newton, the man who wrote the wonderful hymn Amazing Grace, also stated: Although my memory’s fading, I remember two things very clearly: I am a great sinner and Christ is a great Savior. I agree wholeheartedly with this statement. I am a great sinner that has been saved by the grace of God and my salvation is found in Jesus alone. Christ is a great Savior and He is my Lord and Savior.
Christ is a great Savior. I will extol thee, my God, O king; and I will bless your name for ever and ever. Every day will I bless you; and I will praise your name for ever and ever. Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; and his greatness is unsearchable (Psalm 145:1-3). Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised. Hallelujah, praise God. Jesus Christ is great and greatly to be praised.
Great is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infinite. The Lord lifts up the meek: he casts the wicked down to the ground. Sing unto the Lord with thanksgiving; sing praise upon the harp unto our God: Who covers the heaven with clouds, who prepares rain for the earth, who makes grass to grow upon the mountains.
He gives to the beast his food, and to the young ravens which cry. He delights not in the strength of the horse: he takes no pleasure in the legs of a man. The Lord takes pleasure in them that fear him, in those that hope in his mercy (Psalm 147:5-11). Yes, great is our Lord and great is His power and understanding.
Jesus Is Lord Of All And Greatly To Be Praised
All things were made by Him and for His glory (Colossians 1:16). Jesus is Lord of all and His name is greatly to be praised. Jesus Christ is a great Savior. Not only is He a great Savior; He is the only Savior. Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved (Acts 4:12).
For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus (1 Timothy 2:5). Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man comes to the Father, but by me (John 14:6). All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knows the Son, but the Father; neither knows any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him (Matthew 11:27).
And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord (Luke 2:8-11).
Christ Is A Great Savior; Jesus Is The Only Savior
Christ is a great Savior; Jesus is the only Savior. In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins (1 John 4:9-10).
Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit. And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Savior of the world. Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwells in him, and he in God (1 John 4:13-15).
Jesus is the only Savior. We all need a Savior because we have all sinned against God. Each and every one of us have rebelled against God. Not a single one of us are righteous on our own. What then? are we better than they? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin; As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
There is none that understands, there is none that seeks after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one. Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips:
Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness: Their feet are swift to shed blood: Destruction and misery are in their ways: And the way of peace have they not known: There is no fear of God before their eyes. Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God (Romans 3:9-19).
We Are All Great Sinners
Folks, we are all great sinners. Not a single one of us are righteous on our own. We’ve all sinned against God, we’ve all gone our own way. Our way leads to death and destruction. God gave us the 10 Commandments so we can see that we don’t measure up to God’s perfect standard. We have lied, stolen, lusted, coveted, put other little g gods before God. None of us have obeyed our parents our whole lives. We have all sinned and fallen short of God’s glory.
We are great sinners, but Christ is a great Savior. But God demonstrated his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8). None of us have kept the 10 Commandments, but Jesus did. Christ never lied, stole, lusted, coveted or disobeyed God the Father. Jesus never sinned in His thoughts, words or actions.
That’s why His sacrifice on the cross is acceptable and pleasing to God. Jesus lived a perfect, sinless life, yet He died on the cruel cross to save His people from their sins. He took the punishment that He did not owe. He satisfied God’s righteous wrath over sin, when Jesus suffered, bled and died on the old rugged cross.
Jesus Rose From The Grave
Jesus rose from the grave three days after dying on the cross. He defeated sin, death, Hell and Satan. God offers eternal life to everyone who repents and surrenders their life to Jesus. He is the King of kings. Jesus is the Lord of lords. He is the only way of salvation. Jesus is the only Savior. Oh, but what a great Savior Jesus Christ is.
Come to Jesus tonight and be saved. If God is convicting you like He did John Newton, myself and many others that we are great sinners and Christ is a Great Savior, repent and believe the Gospel. Stop trusting in your own goodness, your own works. None of us are good, no not one. We have all gone astray. We have all said yes to our own way and no to God. We have all said at one time or another, “We will not have this Man reign over us.”
Stop trusting in yourself or your own works. You cannot work your way to Heaven. You merely store up more wrath against the day of wrath by trying to earn favor with God. By rejecting Jesus Christ, you are blaspheming Him and saying you can make it to Heaven on your own. This is a great insult to Almighty God!
My Heart’s Desire And Prayer
Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved. For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge. For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.
For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone that believes. For Moses describes the righteousness which is of the law, That the man which does those things shall live by them. But the righteousness which is of faith speaks on this wise, Say not in your heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ down from above:)
Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ again from the dead.) But what saith it? The word is near you, even in your mouth, and in your heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; That if you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in your heart that God hath raised him from the dead, you shalt be saved.
For with the heart man believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believes on him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved (Romans 10:1-13).
He Is The Only Savior
Christ is a great Savior. He is the only Savior. Come to Jesus through repentance and faith and be saved. Believe on the Lord Jesus, on His finished work on the cross for your salvation. Call upon the precious name of Jesus and be saved. Today is the day of salvation. Repent from your sins and trust in the Lord Jesus.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart; and lean not unto your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct your paths (Proverbs 3:5-6). The Lord is the only Savior. Jesus is trustworthy. Christ is a great Savior. Surrender your life fully and completely to the Lord Jesus Christ and be saved.
