The Gospel in a Nutshell

March 25, 2010 by dennis@seekandsavethelost.com Leave a Comment

You don’t need a theology degree from a seminary to understand the Gospel (the Good News of Jesus Christ). Here it is: the Gospel in a nutshell:

1. God made us and God loves us.

2. We messed up (we’ve sinned by breaking the 10 Commandments).

3. There’s nothing we can do on our own to fix it (we can’t be good enough, do more good than bad, or do good works). Salvation is a free gift from God.

4. We just need to receive this amazing gift. We broke God’s Law, Jesus paid our death penalty for us. Confess and turn away from your sins and put your full trust in Jesus alone.

If you haven’t done this already, won’t you choose salvation today?

Teach Your Children Well

You may be a good parent who takes your child or children to church. If so, you have probably heard the Proverb train (raise) up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it (Prov. 22:6). [Read more…]

Cheap Grace

March 6, 2010 by dennis@seekandsavethelost.com Leave a Comment

Have you ever bought cheap wine (I don’t drink alcohol anymore and I don’t endorse drinking), cheap furniture or a cheap car? How did any of these things work out for you? Usually when you buy something cheap it doesn’t last as long or it just isn’t as good as something that’s better quality. [Read more…]

Why is Christianity the Right Religion?

Why Is Christianity The Right Religion?

In every other religion in the world you have to DO something. In all the other religions you have to “earn” your way into heaven. Men in these false religions are trying to reach God by their works. The problem with these religions (besides being Christ-less) is that how do you determine when you have done enough? Several world religions believe that you have to do more good than bad in your life. How in the world would you ever know when you’ve accomplished this? [Read more…]

Land of Milk and Honey

Land of Milk and Honey

The Bible refers to the promised land of the Israelites in the Old Testament as the land of milk and honey. The phrase milk and honey makes me think of a nation of plenty. A nation with many resources and a country that is blessed by God. [Read more…]

Jesus Came to Seek and Save the Lost

Seek and Save the Lost Old Banner

Have you ever lost something valuable to you? When I was 16 years old I was raking hay for my grandpa and I lost my billfold. It was on a Friday and I had just gotten paid. I don’t remember exactly now, but I think I had around $120 in the billfold. I was really upset about losing everything including my driver’s license. [Read more…]

No Other Name Under Heaven

A lot of people have nicknames. I know a couple of people who are called “Blue” and another friend of mine is called “Coup”. I’m sure you know people who have nicknames too. I was thinking about this the other day when the Bible verse Acts 4:12 came to me, it says “Neither is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” This verse of course is referring to Jesus Christ (Acts 4:10). Jesus Christ is the only name in which salvation can be obtained.

There is nothing we can do on our own for salvation (Ephesians 2:8-9). I am thankful that Jesus is my Lord (who leads me daily) as well as Savior. Is Jesus your Lord and Savior? What name are you trusting in? Who are you counting on for everlasting life? There is no other name under heaven whereby we must be saved. Turn from your sins and turn to Jesus. Trust Him. Trust in His name. Repent and believe the Gospel. Do this today and be saved.

If God is Real, Why is There so Much Suffering?

January 20, 2010 by dennis@seekandsavethelost.com Leave a Comment

You have probably heard people say things like: There is so much pain and suffering in the world, how can God be real? Or why does God cause natural disasters like hurricanes, earth quakes and tornados? These are valid questions. If God is real, why is there so much suffering in the world?

We need to remember that in the beginning, God made the earth and that it was good (Gen. 1:10). God made Adam and Eve and He also made the garden of Eden, which was perfect. Because Adam and Eve ate the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, God sent them out of the garden of Eden (Gen. 3:23). God also told Adam that because of his sin, the ground would be cursed. Pain and suffering don’t prove that God isn’t real, they back up what God tells us in the Bible.

We live in a fallen world. We are sinners too, just like Adam and Eve. We too have rebelled against God. Are you still rebelling now? Or have you surrendered your life to Jesus? The world won’t always be like this. Believers in Jesus Christ are looking forward to the new heaven and the new earth, where there will be no more pain and suffering. I can’t wait. Unbelievers will be cast into the lake of fire and brimstone (Revelation 21:8)

God is Love

God is love. I believe this! 1 John 4:8 states, “He that loves not knows not God; for God is love.” God is love! This is a short, but very powerful statement. I might describe a person by saying, “That person is full of zeal,” or “This person is crazy about the Beatles.” But to say someone is love is huge! [Read more…]

The Most Important New Year’s Resolution

December 29, 2009 by dennis@seekandsavethelost.com 1 Comment

Happy New Year

Every year, most of us make New Year’s Resolutions. I will probably do the usual and say that I’m going to diet and exercise. Some people make resolutions about their health; they are going to eat better, give up smoking, drinking or some other vice. Some people say they are going to manage their debts better or save more money. Other resolutions are: get a better job, go back to school, or volunteer to help others more. The list of New Year’s Resolutions is endless. But what is the most important New Year’s resolution? [Read more…]
