Guilty of Adultery

August 12, 2011 by dennis@seekandsavethelost.com Leave a Comment

I have a confession to make: I am guilty of adultery. I have cheated on my wife many times over the years. I am ashamed of my sin. No, I haven’t actually committed adultery against my wife – Polly, but I have lusted after other women many times. [Read more…]

High Price

Do you ever complain about high gas prices? I know I do. Are there other things that are too pricey for you? I am pretty cheap so my wife shocked me recently when we were in a mall in St. Louis. I won’t mention the name of the store, but they had pots and pans that were a $1,000 each (and no we didn’t buy one at that exorbitant high price)! I wouldn’t spend $200 for a whole set of pots and pans. [Read more…]

I Want It All

Freddie Mercury

Freddie Mercury (from Queen) wrote a song years ago called I Want It All. He was a famous rock star, probably had more money than he could spend and he had female and male sexual partners. From a human perspective it appears that he had it all. [Read more…]

Foxe’s Christian Martyrs

July 26, 2011 by dennis@seekandsavethelost.com 2 Comments

I recently read Foxe’s Christian Martyrs. This book is a tough read. It is a book that every Christian should read. He describes the gruesome deaths of Christians from the Apostles to martyrs in the 1500’s. Some of the martyrs were tortured beyond belief. [Read more…]

When Is Enough…Enough?

Albums

I collected rock albums for 30 years. I actually quit a couple of years ago because I realized that I would never find the one – the last album that would complete my collection. After collecting 1,600 albums and realizing that 2,000 wouldn’t be enough, I figured I might as well quit. [Read more…]

The Fear of the Lord

July 12, 2011 by dennis@seekandsavethelost.com Leave a Comment

Fear can grip us so tight that it cripples us. Fear can actually paralyze us, shut us down. Sometimes fear and stress even cause us physical symptoms. Personally, when I am really nervous my stomach bothers me. [Read more…]

Lukewarm

There’s nothing like a glass of cold water on a hot summer day when the temperature is near 100 degrees. Likewise, a hot bowl of soup can do wonders for you when you are sick. [Read more…]

Health, Wealth and Happiness

July 1, 2011 by dennis@seekandsavethelost.com Leave a Comment

At one time or another you may have heard a preacher on TV saying something like, “Come to Jesus and He will give you health, wealth and happiness.” They are trying to sell people on Christianity so they will have a better life (some of these pastors are very wealthy and they live “the good life” – for now), selling this brand of Christianity. [Read more…]

Following God is Hard

June 26, 2011 by dennis@seekandsavethelost.com Leave a Comment

My wife and I started a publishing company in August 2010. I wrote about this in a blog last fall called New Career. We are both convinced that it was God’s will for us to start Bound by Faith Publishers. We published Parenting Moment by Moment in October 2010 and we released Night of the Cossack April 2011. Universalism

June 18, 2011 by dennis@seekandsavethelost.com Leave a Comment

It seems like several pastors and Christian singers lately have come out in favor of universalism. They may not even call it that, but if you listen closely to what they say, this is the direction they are going. They basically believe that since God is love, God will not punish people for their sins, He will just forgive everyone no matter what and that everyone will be alright. [Read more…]
