Recently the jury found George Zimmerman not guilty of second degree murder and not guilty of manslaughter. Was he really innocent? Should he have waited in his vehicle until the police showed up like the 911 operator advised him to do? Obviously he should have waited. But he didn’t and now he had to go through this trial and people are threatening to kill him because he was found not guilty. More importantly, a teenager is now dead because of his actions. Aaron Brummitt and I were witnessing at the Craft Beer Fest in downtown Springfield, MO on July 20, 2013. There was a band playing on the square and we have a decibel reading of over 105 decibels. This was about the fifth concert in a row that was confirmed at being over 100 decibels. [Read more…]

It’s Shameful How Shameless We Are!

In the 1950’s and earlier in this country, if a teenage girl became pregnant, she would typically go somewhere else and live with her aunt until she had her baby. Then when she came back home, a lot of times the family would raise the baby as the young girl’s sister. I’m not saying that was right. I’m merely pointing out that unwed mothers used to be ashamed of being pregnant. Nowadays you might get your own TV show. It’s shameful how shameless we are. [Read more…]

You can be close to the stake in horseshoes and still win, if the other person doesn’t get a ringer. Of course Patrick Henry said those famous words, “Give me liberty or give me death.” This is what we’ve been taught in school and this is the part we remember. But what Patrick Henry really said was this, “Is life so dear or peace so sweet as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery? Forbid it, Almighty God! Brad Pitt is a native of Springfield, Mo (where I live) and he reportedly makes $20 Million dollars per movie, plus a percentage of the gross box office receipts. Im Sorry

I’m sorry. We say it a lot and we hear it a lot. If you accidentally bump into someone while you are walking or if you step on someone’s foot, most of us will say “I’m sorry.” In fact, the smaller the infraction, the easier it is to say that you are sorry. But what about when we really hurt someone? How easy is to say it and mean it when you are caught telling lies about someone or when you betray a friend? Or what if you cheat on your spouse? What if you accidentally kill someone in a car accident? Would it be easy to say sorry then? Your attorney would tell you not to say that you are sorry because then you would be admitting guilt. Agnostic Atheist

I talked to a couple of young men the other night who told me that they are agnostic atheists. Before they explained what they meant by that, they asked me what I think the definition of an atheist is. I told them that an atheist is someone who doesn’t believe that God exists and therefore they have no morals (no sense of right and wrong) so they do what they please. They said that my definition is that of a gnostic atheist – one who believes that there absolutely is no God. [Read more…]

This post is going to make some people mad. The pope and an Episcopalian bishop both recently made some crazy statements about salvation. If they believe the words that came out of their mouths, then I can state without a doubt that neither one of them are saved. You cannot have a wrong understanding of salvation and truly be saved. Salvation is of the Lord. God convicts sinners and He draws them to Himself. You cry out for the Savior when you realize that you need to be saved. Trusting in anything else is foolish and damnable.
