Man Up

August 18, 2020 by dennis@seekandsavethelost.com Leave a Comment

Man Up

Man up is an expression that we’ve used for the past 25 years at my house. It isn’t meant to be sexist and obviously we’ve used this saying way before this time of political correctness and cancel culture in America. So tonight, I want to talk to you about manning up. Again, it isn’t meant to be sexist or anything like that. What does the phrase “man up” mean? Well, I’m glad you asked. Man up, means own up. When you’ve done something wrong, do you man up? In other words, own up to it or do you make excuses? [Read more…]

The Jesus Guy
Ministry Update August 16, 2020

It was great witnessing Friday night. Yes, it felt like a pre-Covid witnessing time. Saying this has nothing to do with masks. About half the people wore them and about half didn’t. No, it seemed more like a pre-Covid night just from the energy and atmosphere. There was one mocker while I handed out tracts, two drive by mockers and one encourager. The night ended with a college age guy calling me the Jesus guy. It was a great night of open-air preaching and handing out tracts. [Read more…]

Didn’t Preach

Homeless Guy Reading A New Testament

Didn’t Preach

Ministry Update August 9, 2020

I didn’t preach on Friday night even though I had prepared a message. My heart just wasn’t right with God and with others. I would have been a hypocrite if I had open-air preached, so instead, I handed out New Testaments. The first lady I handed one to in the parking lot took one and the second person looked homeless, but he gladly took one too. A few minutes later he could be seen reading the New Testament. A couple I know told me they already had Bibles and other people said the same thing. One gentleman thanked me for handing out Bibles.

Other people took them throughout the night while I walked around downtown. One guy refused one, but the woman that was with him took one. (I’m always glad when this happens because many times when the first person says no, the other people with them also say no. I guess it’s just human nature). May God bless the New Testaments and may He prompt people to read them and may the Lord save lost souls.

Do You Really Want God To Judge You?

Do You Really Want God To Judge You?

The bible verse that’s thrown in an open-air preacher’s face more than any other is Matthew 7:1 – Judge not that ye be not judged. This may very well be the most overused and misquoted verse in the Bible. If you read further past verse one, you will see that Jesus is saying don’t be a hypocrite. I shouldn’t preach against adultery if I’m an adulterer. Jesus isn’t saying we shouldn’t judge (in fact He tells us to judge with righteous judgment – John 7:24). Along these same lines, we frequently hear people shout “Only God can judge me.” [Read more…]

The Problem With Christians

Ministry Update August 2, 2020

Friday night I brought a message entitled Do You Really Want God To Judge You? I mentioned how the Bible verse thrown out at open-air preachers more than any other verse is Matthew 7:1 – judge not. As I finished up the message, a trans woman (also known as a man dressed like a woman) approached me and said, “Judge not”. I replied you should have heard the message, because that’s what it was about. Then he continued “The problem with Christians is you don’t like homosexuals or trans.” I said, “It’s not a matter of what we like or don’t like, Jesus said that from the beginning God made them male and female and it’s supposed to be one man and one woman married for life” (Mark 10:6-9). Wash And Be Clean

Wash And Be Clean

Naaman was the commander of the Syrian army. He was also a leper that was told that he should go to Israel because there was a prophet there who could heal him. Naaman goes to the prophet but he’s disappointed that the prophet wouldn’t even come out and talk to him. Adding further insult to injury, the prophet told Naaman through the prophet’s servant that Naaman should go dip himself in the Jordan river seven times and then he’d be cleansed of leprosy. The general of the army was told to go wash and be clean. How did Naaman react to this instruction? [Read more…]

Only God Can Judge Me

Ministry Update July 26, 2020

Toward the end of the message on Friday night a guy was yelling from behind me, walking down the sidewalk. As I finished up, he reached the corner I was at and he said, “Judge not lest ye be judged. Only God can judge me.” Instead of stopping and having a real conversation he, continued across the street. So I affirmed that only God can judge him and that God will judge him one day. Is he ready for Judgment Day? I also pointed out that I was merely quoting Scripture, so if he felt judged, maybe God was the one convicting him. [Read more…]

The Lord Says Turn To Me And Be Saved

The Lord Says Turn To Me And Be Saved

You are walking down the sidewalk tonight and you walk past me. If I said, “Turn to me” you literally would have to turn around and go the opposite direction; the opposite way you are going. This is a picture of repentance. Repentance is a change of mind and a change of heart that leads to a change of actions. You don’t clean yourself up for God to save you. No, when God convicts you over your sins, you repent and trust Jesus to save you. So tonight, I want to share with you that the Lord says “Turn to Me and be saved.” [Read more…]

Read Ephesians Thirteen Four

Ministry Update July 19, 2020

A passenger in a car pulling out of the parking lot across from us yelled at Conner “Read Ephesians 13:4, Read Ephesians 13:4.” Conner looked over at him and replied, “There is no such verse. There are only six chapters in the book of Ephesians.” We don’t really know if the young man was just trying to see if Conner would try to look up something that wasn’t in the Bible or if the young man was confused and really meant Exodus 3:14. He Is Lord Of All

He Is Lord Of All

Tonight, I want to talk to you about Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior. Not only did Jesus save me, He is Lord of my life. I’m grateful that Jesus bore God’s wrath over my sins as Jesus was beaten unmercifully for my sins. The Lord also drank the cup of God’s wrath, the same wrath that I deserved. Oh, I willingly bow my knee to King Jesus. He is the King of kings and the Lord of lords. Yes, Jesus is worthy of all praise, honor and glory because He is lord of all. [Read more…]
