Night Full Of Encouragement

Night Full of Encouragement

Ministry Update July 25, 2021

Friday night witnessing downtown was a very encouraging night. Pastor Mike came out with us for the first time, so he was nervous. Keven and I hadn’t been out for about six months. We didn’t have God’s favor or unction during that time, so we didn’t go witnessing. (Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain Psalm 127:1). So even though it was Pastor Mike’s first time street witnessing and Keven and I hadn’t been out for a really long time, it turned out to be a night full of encouragement. [Read more…]

What Are Christians To Do?

What Are Christians To Do?

What are Christians to do at a time like this? It all seems so hopeless. Our country is running amuck. Those in power call evil good and good evil. Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! (Isaiah 5:20). Oh the sky is falling! What are Christians to do? What are we to do during these dark times? [Read more…]

Atrocious Act

Atrocious Act

On New Year’s Eve, December 31, 2020, a 29 year-old killed his girlfriend and her 13 year-old son. The man also tried to kill the woman’s two daughters, ages 7 and 14, but they both survived the attack. This happened right here in Springfield, Missouri. This was a shocking crime in Southwest Missouri. But this horrendous crime pales in comparison to King Herod killing 2,000 boys that were 2 years old and younger in Bethlehem. Herod ordered the killings because he was trying to kill baby Jesus. Obviously, King Herod failed in his attempt, but he did succeed in his atrocious act of killing 2,000 precious little boys. Born To Die

Born To Die

Did you know that you are born to die? We are born with a sinful nature. In other words, our parents were sinners, their parents were sinners and on and on all the way back to Adam and Eve. The first parents sinned in the garden of Eden and we’ve all sinned since then. The soul that sins, it shall die (Ezekiel 18:20). Yes we are sinners. Yes we all die. But there was one born to die, who never sinned. [Read more…]

Rescue The Perishing

Rescue The Perishing

I love the old hymn Rescue The Perishing by Fanny Crosby. The first line is: Rescue the perishing, care for the dying, snatch them in pity from sin and the grave; Weep o’er the erring one, lift up the fallen, Tell them of Jesus, the mighty to save. Then the chorus goes: Rescue the perishing, care for the dying, Jesus is merciful, Jesus will save. Rescue the perishing. Jesus is merciful, Jesus will save. Yes, Jesus is mighty to save. The Lord is the only way of salvation – there is no other. Rescue the perishing. This aptly describes street witnessing. [Read more…]

Woo Hoo To Sexual Immorality

Ministry Update December 13, 2020

It rained most of the day Friday and was still raining when we first started witnessing. But the rain stopped after only about 10 minutes and was clear after that. Only had two mockers that I remember. The first guy was telling me to shut up and looked quite angry. Keven crossed the street to give the guy a chance to talk, but the mocker just walked away. After that I was mentioning different sins and talked about how all sexual relations outside of biblical marriage are sins. At that exact moment, a couple were walking down the street and the woman yelled “Woo hoo” to sexual immorality. [Read more…]

Firey Serpents

Firey Serpents

When you hear the words firey serpents, you may think of video games or sci fi movies. But did you know firey serpents are mentioned in the Bible? After God sent the ten plagues upon Egypt and rescued the Israelites, they wandered in the wilderness for 40 years. Much of that time wandering they spent complaining against God and against Moses. After one of the times they complained, God sent firey serpents. These were deadly serpents and many of the Israelites died from the serpents’ bites. After the people confessed their sin, God made a way of escape and this way of escape pointed to a future way of escape for all of us who repent and trust Jesus. [Read more…]

Went Around The Block And Came Back

Ministry Update December 6, 2020

It was cold Friday night, so Keven and I discussed walking around and handing out tracts after the message. So as soon as I finished open-air preaching, I grabbed my witnessing bag and off we went. To our surprise, a man chased us half a block away. When he caught up with us, he thanked me for open-air preaching. He said he was driving by and heard the message, went around the block and came back to listen to the rest of it. The guy said we need more preaching on the streets. Keven told him some other guys were going to do the same thing in about 30 minutes. Keven asked him if we could pray for him and he said yes. As they talked a little bit, the man said that he hoped he was a Christian. [Read more…]

The Compassion Of Jesus

The Compassion Of Jesus

We just celebrated Thanksgiving. Who or what did you thank? I’ve heard people thank “mother earth” or trees or other things like these. But who did you thank on Thanksgiving? Did you thank God? The one true God of the Bible? I am very thankful to God for my wife, family, friends, home, vehicles, job and so much more and I thank my Heavenly Father for these things. I also especially thank God for the compassion of Jesus. Jesus was very compassionate when He walked this earth 2,000 years ago. And, behold, there came a leper and worshipped him (Jesus), saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.  And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed. [Read more…]

Yet Jesus Saves Us Anyway

Ministry Update November 29, 2020

Friday night, there were two young men that mocked the open-air preaching as they walked away. Right after that, a couple crossed the street to the left of me and the woman mocked as they crossed. I don’t know if she felt more emboldened because of the other mockers or if she still would have done so even if they weren’t around. But I’ve seen it many times before where people are more bold in mocking when they see others or join in when others are mocking. I think it’s just a mob mentality sort of thing. But the comment of the night wasn’t from a mocker. No, it was from a young man that was walking his dog and when he got right in front of me he said, “Yet Jesus saves us anyway.”

I had just quoted Matthew 7:13-14 where Jesus says “Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. Jesus says that many are headed for Hell and few are headed for Heaven. This was the point I was making and I was pleading with people to come to Jesus. This is when the young man said, “Yet Jesus saves us anyway.” So I pointed out to him that there is not universal salvation. We must come to Jesus His way – through repentance and faith. Unfortunately, the young man kept walking his dog, so I didn’t get a chance to talk to him further.

After I finished the message, I told Keven that I heard music and wondered if something was going on at the square. We grabbed some Gospel tracts and headed that direction. Before we got there, we realized that one of the bars had a live performer and they had an amplifier outside the bar. That was where the music was coming from. When we got the square, it was empty. So we walked about a 2 block area downtown and handed out tracts while we had a great discussion about Judas (who betrayed Jesus).

Wednesday was the day before Thanksgiving, so there weren’t any classes at MSU.

(These updates are provided to encourage Christians to share the glorious Gospel with others)
