I don’t know about you, but I love to eat and it’s really something to eat at a nice buffet. All the choices of meat, various potatoes and other side dishes and then desert. I usually over eat at buffets, but it is really exciting to see all of the different choices.
Buffets are fine when it comes to dining out, but it isn’t wise when it comes to religion. I am amazed at the number of people I talk to who seem to take some things that they consider good from Christianity, some things from Buddhism and so forth. Some people think that it’s alright to choose their religious beliefs the same way they chose their food at the buffet line. They have a buffet religion.
The Bible is very clear that picking and choosing like that is plain wrong. Just like you can’t pick and choose parts of the Bible you want to believe, you can’t pick and choose from the various religions.
In John 14:6 Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life; no man comes to the Father, but by me.” Likewise, in Acts 4:12 Peter is talking about Jesus when he states, “Neither is there salvation in any other; for there is no other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
If you are picking and choosing from various religions, I implore you to stop doing that. Read the Bible, turn away from your sins and put your trust in Jesus Christ and Him alone to save you. Surrender your life completely to Jesus. Choose the buffet when you want to eat out, not when it comes to your spiritual life.
