My wife and I were mall walking the other day and I saw a shirt on display that said, “What’s better than great?” How would you answer that question? Do you know what’s better than great?
The answer to the question on the shirt is “Me.” Really? Are you or I really better than great? I’m not talking about how you feel, but I’m talking about the real you or me; are either of us really better than great?
That’s not how I would answer that question at all. Don’t get me wrong, God doesn’t want us to wallow in self-pity. We aren’t supposed to walk around and think that we are worthless. We also aren’t supposed to think of ourselves more highly than others. God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble (James 4:6).
So if we really aren’t better than great, then what or who is? Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is better than great! He is the great I AM. Jesus is the King of kings, the Lord of lords (I Timothy 6:15). He alone is better than great! Do you honor and worship Jesus as if He is better than great?
