You don’t need a theology degree from a seminary to understand the Gospel (the Good News of Jesus Christ). Here it is: the Gospel in a nutshell:
1. God made us and God loves us.
2. We messed up (we’ve sinned by breaking the 10 Commandments).
3. There’s nothing we can do on our own to fix it (we can’t be good enough, do more good than bad, or do good works). Salvation is a free gift from God.
4. We just need to receive this amazing gift. We broke God’s Law, Jesus paid our death penalty for us. Confess and turn away from your sins and put your full trust in Jesus alone.

In every other religion in the world you have to DO something. In all the other religions you have to “earn” your way into heaven. Men in these false religions are trying to reach God by their works. The problem with these religions (besides being Christ-less) is that how do you determine when you have done enough? The Bible refers to the promised land of the Israelites in the Old Testament as the land of milk and honey. The phrase milk and honey makes me think of a nation of plenty. A nation with many resources and a country that is blessed by God. [Read more…]
Have you ever lost something valuable to you? When I was 16 years old I was raking hay for my grandpa and I lost my billfold. It was on a Friday and I had just gotten paid. I don’t remember exactly now, but I think I had around $120 in the billfold. I was really upset about losing everything including my driver’s license. [Read more…]
A lot of people have nicknames. I know a couple of people who are called “Blue” and another friend of mine is called “Coup”. I’m sure you know people who have nicknames too. I was thinking about this the other day when the Bible verse Acts 4:12 came to me, it says “Neither is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” This verse of course is referring to Jesus Christ (Acts 4:10). Jesus Christ is the only name in which salvation can be obtained.
There is nothing we can do on our own for salvation (Ephesians 2:8-9). I am thankful that Jesus is my Lord (who leads me daily) as well as Savior. Is Jesus your Lord and Savior? What name are you trusting in? Who are you counting on for everlasting life? There is no other name under heaven whereby we must be saved. Turn from your sins and turn to Jesus. Trust Him. Trust in His name. Repent and believe the Gospel. Do this today and be saved.
