Where is the Love?

I go out witnessing in Springfield, MO with Greg Marlin and his group Born of Him Ministries. Most of us have been trained by the Way of the Master training of Ray Comfort and Kirk Cameron. Usually, when we are out witnessing we get around to some form of the question, “Are you good enough to go to heaven?”
The other day I heard an audio recording of evangelism training by Mark Spence (he’s associated with Ray Comfort’s Living Waters Ministry). He changed the question a little bit by asking, “What do you think it takes for you to get into Hell?” I love this question! Most people think they are good by man’s standards (and by man’s standards they are right).
Eleven men from my church recently went to a men’s retreat in Eureka Springs, AR. I was riding in the front seat of a car and we were following someone else who had been to the retreat center before. It was very hard to keep track of where we were and where we were going. I told the driver of our car that I hoped he wasn’t counting on me to get us out of there the next day. I was turned around and lost as I could be.
The driver told me, “No problem. I’ll just punch in home on the navigation system and we’ll be fine.” He then turned it on to show me how it works. The screen was white. Now, I don’t have a vehicle with a navigation system in it, but I’ve seen how they work and I know that they are supposed to show you what road you are traveling on. The white screen wasn’t right. We realized that we were so far in the boonies that we were “off the map.” I took a picture of it with my iphone, but by the time I took the picture you could see a portion of highway 62 in the corner, but we still had no idea of where we were at.
How many times have you heard someone say, “money is the root of all evil?” Is this really true? Is money really the root of all evil? What do you think, is money evil?
“For the love of money is the root of all evil” (I Timothy 6:10a). Money in and of itself is not evil. Money is used to exchange goods or services. It is a way to value goods and services. So money is not evil. [Read more…]
Carla MacLachlan, author of Parenting Moment by Moment recently posted the following question on facebook: True or False: If you are following Jesus and your child is watching you all day then he is learning what it looks like to follow Jesus? [Read more…]
My wife and I recently were traveling East on Highway 54 (in Missouri) and it rained and sleeted on us for nearly two hours. We were about 20 miles from Jefferson City when I hit black ice on a bridge on a corner and lost control of my Honda Pilot. We started sliding toward the bridge but thankfully we were near the end of it and we missed it. We then hit the ditch at probably 65 MPH and we were sliding sideways, then we spun on around and were heading backwards up an embankment. [Read more…]
My wife and I were mall walking the other day and I saw a shirt on display that said, “What’s better than great?” How would you answer that question? Do you know what’s better than great?
My wife and I saw a bumper sticker on a vehicle the other day, “God loves you whether you like it or not.” We both read it and chuckled, but then it struck both of us how profound this simple statement really is. God really does love each and every one of us, whether we acknowledge or reciprocate that love.
Some friends and I were talking about a Christian book the other day, Parenting Moment by Moment. We were denied permission to sell the book at a large mall because it might be considered controversial or offensive. I was asking people if Christianity was offensive to them. One guy said well if it is an extremist book, then it may be offensive. [Read more…]
Here is a basic question for any atheists out there: Can life come from non-life? I ask this question because I believe the Bible is the inerrant Word of God. I believe the Bible is completely true. II Timothy 3:16a says, “All scripture is given by inspiration of God.” [Read more…]
