This Isn’t How You Reach Our Generation
“What are you saying?” “Why are you doing this?” “Why are you yelling?” “Tell them about the love of Jesus.” “Nobody’s listening to you.” “This isn’t how you reach our generation.” “You need to talk to us one to one.” These were some of the comments that I heard last Wednesday at MSU, mainly from six young men that came over and talked to me after I finished open-air preaching. No Ministry Update This Week
Every week I send out an email to my prayer partners about our upcoming events and I always say Lord willing. This last week was a perfect example of why it’s important to say Lord willing because I was so sick that I didn’t get to witness at Planned Parenthood or downtown. Ugh is how I feel, but God is sovereign and He is worthy of our praise. Aaron, Erica, Diana, Elise and Serenity witnessed downtown Friday night. That’s all I know, so I really don’t have an update this week. Lord willing, Aaron and I will witness at Missouri State University this week and then join others witnessing downtown Friday night.
The Buckle is Rusted
The Buckle is Rusted
Springfield Missouri is in the Bible Belt and I’ve always heard that we are the buckle of the belt. I think we can even make a good argument that we are the buckle. In addition to having a church on just about every corner, we have several bible colleges and we are home to the Assemblies of God world headquarters. So maybe we are the buckle of the Bible Belt. You Preach Hate
Even though it was Art Walk Friday night, it was below freezing and the crowds were low. Erica and I handed out tracts, sang a few hymns and I was on the box talking about The Buckle is Rusted when a young man yelled out “you are preaching hate.” I had to laugh and I replied “I haven’t even started reading the Bible yet. I’m talking about how sad it is that there are 900 kids in foster care in Greene County. How is that preaching hate?” [Read more…]

It’s just two days before Christmas and over 3,000 precious little babies will be murdered in the womb today – all around our nation. Over 3,000 precious little image bearers of God will never see the light of day. Over 3,000 babies will be killed today, just two days before we celebrate the birth of Jesus. So as strange as this may sound, we thought standing in front of Planned Parenthood is actually the best place to talk about the birth of Jesus. You guys are banned from shopping at Other Mothers. Yes, the manager of Other Mothers banned Aaron and I from shopping at their store ever again. What was our unpardonable crime? We purchased items in his store before we witnessed next door at Planned Parenthood. What were the hateful, unloving words that we spoke in front of Planned Parenthood? Luke 2. That’s right, we sang carols and preached about the birth of Jesus. We did this two days before Christmas. (I will post the message – The Birth of Jesus in a couple of days). So it appears that Other Mothers, a store that sells used children’s clothing supports Planned Parenthood, an organization that kills off their potential clients. Friday night December 18, 2015 Kelly was preaching on the box when a young man walked up and wanted to know why we were doing this. I handed him a tract and explained that we are out calling sinners to repent and trust Jesus. I could tell he’d been drinking even though he had a breath mint trying to cover it up. I asked him if he had repented and put his faith in Christ. Then he said that’s he’s bent over backwards begging God to take alcohol away from him. [Read more…]
