The Super Bowl is coming up this weekend. The New England Patriots are playing the Atlanta Falcons. The last I heard, tickets were going for an average of $4,600 a piece. Can you imagine that? Can you imagine paying over $9,000 for you and someone else to attend the Super Bowl in person? I wouldn’t waste that amount of money on a game, even if I had that much to throw around. The message tonight is about America. It is about the land of confusion. But before I get into that discussion, I want to talk about the original land of confusion, the tower of Babel. There was only one language before the tower of Babel was built. But God stopped men from building the tower. “Don’t touch me!” the drunk screamed at me Friday night. The ironic part was that he mumbled that he should knock me off the box right before he got to me and then he did try to knock me off. As I was falling backwards I put my forearm out to keep him from hitting me. The drunk then went ballistic. First cussing me out and then he got right in Aaron’s face, yelling and cussing him out. When you read the Holy Bible, you see God from beginning to end. This shouldn’t be surprising since the Bible is God’s word. 2 Timothy 3:16 says: All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness. All Scripture, the entire Bible is inspired by God, not just the red letters. Our Father God wrote the Bible through the Holy Spirit that gave men the words God wanted them to write. [Read more…]
It was windy, but a warmer day on Wednesday when I witnessed in front of Planned Parenthood. I quoted Genesis 1:1. Then read the verses of the first chapter where God created the animals after their kind and man and woman after God’s own image. That’s when a woman pulled into the parking lot and walked up to me. I stopped reading Scripture and looked up at her. You never know if someone is a friend or a foe when they come up to you like that. But she smiled and shook my hand. On Wednesday Aaron and I witnessed at Planned Parenthood. There were several cars there when we got there. One lady leaving the shopping center next door yelled at me while I was bringing a message. She was our one mocker. I really couldn’t hear her very well, but I think she was saying that I was stupid because they don’t perform abortions at Planned Parenthood in Springfield. I told her they do give women the morning after pill and they refer them to St. Louis or Kansas City where abortions are performed. (Planned Parenthood performed abortions in Springfield 25 years ago and they are pushing to start doing them here again. God forbid! May it not be so.). [Read more…]
A couple of weeks ago I talked to a young man here in downtown Springfield, MO and he told me that Aaron and I preach too much hellfire and brimstone. After Brian brought a message I preached after him. While I was on the box, Tim came up and asked Brian a ton of questions. I think he talked for 30 to 40 minutes. But one of his questions was why God doesn’t strike him dead when he curses God and challenges Him to kill him. He cursed God and challenged God to “smite me right now.” Since God didn’t kill him on the spot, Tim believes that proves God isn’t real. He doesn’t realize that it’s by God’s mercy alone that He doesn’t strike Tim dead this very moment. [Read more…]
