Who’s the Boss? was a sitcom back in the mid 80’s and early 90’s. Tony Danza was the star. He played a widower and a former major league baseball player (a second baseman for the St. Louis Cardinals – Go Cards!). He worked as a house keeper for a rich lady in Connecticut. George Zimmerman/Trayvon Martin
Recently the jury found George Zimmerman not guilty of second degree murder and not guilty of manslaughter. Was he really innocent? Should he have waited in his vehicle until the police showed up like the 911 operator advised him to do? Obviously he should have waited. But he didn’t and now he had to go through this trial and people are threatening to kill him because he was found not guilty. More importantly, a teenager is now dead because of his actions. Aaron Brummitt and I were witnessing at the Craft Beer Fest in downtown Springfield, MO on July 20, 2013. There was a band playing on the square and we have a decibel reading of over 105 decibels. This was about the fifth concert in a row that was confirmed at being over 100 decibels. [Read more…]
A few of us from Springfield, MO went down to Arkansas last weekend to witness and plead for the lives of innocent, unborn children. When we got there, we found 25 other people out there standing for life, pleading for life and sharing the Gospel. In the 1950’s and earlier in this country, if a teenage girl became pregnant, she would typically go somewhere else and live with her aunt until she had her baby. Then when she came back home, a lot of times the family would raise the baby as the young girl’s sister. I’m not saying that was right. I’m merely pointing out that unwed mothers used to be ashamed of being pregnant. Nowadays you might get your own TV show. It’s shameful how shameless we are. [Read more…]
Sometimes in life, being close isn’t that big of deal. I remember in school that some teachers graded on a curve. You can be close to the stake in horseshoes and still win, if the other person doesn’t get a ringer. Of course Patrick Henry said those famous words, “Give me liberty or give me death.” This is what we’ve been taught in school and this is the part we remember. But what Patrick Henry really said was this, “Is life so dear or peace so sweet as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery? Forbid it, Almighty God!
