JUNE 2010

I drove by a church a while back and they had a sign out by the road that said, "We don't do guilt."  Isn't that nice?  That sounds great.  I mean, even when I am guilty of doing something wrong, I don't like to feel guilty.  Who does?  So we don't do guilt sounds really good.

 

But is it biblical?  Don't get me wrong, I don't think we are supposed to stay stuck in guilt and wallow there forever.  Guilt is a God given emotion and He gave us that emotion for a reason.  Our conscience let's us know when we've done soemthing wrong.  Guilt is supposed to help us see that we've done wrong and then we are to change our ways.  We are to turn back to God.  We all make mistakes and God will forgive us if we come to Him with a humble and contrite ...

I absolutely love sports, but I am not good at any of them.  I am not even a very good arm chair quarterback.  I was the type of kid that was usually picked last or close to it when teams were choosing sides.  So I know I a thing or two about bench warming.  That's where I spent most of my limited sports career.

 

But ever since I truly found Jesus Christ to be my Lord and Savior, I am determined not to be a bench warmer.  I am going to be a kingdom builder!  I'm jumping into the game with both feet!  And the beauty part is that with God's strength I can be used by Him to help further His kingdom.  I am resolved to not be a pew warmer this time around.

 

So I ask you, do you go to church once a week and just attend ...

Do you watch American Idol?  I have watched it a few times and I'm always impressed with the talented singers who compete. I personally think it's cruel how they make fun of some of the singers at the beginning of the season.  But the competition really heats up by the end of the season. 

 

Not only do we have American Idol singers, but I'm afraid that a lot of Americans have made themselves false gods or false idols in their own minds.  This is a very serious thing to do.  The Bible warns us that no idolator shall inherit the kingdom of Heaven in 1 Corinthians 6:9-10. 

 

Why do I think a lot of American's have made a false god or a false idol that they worship?  Look at some of the Christian programs on t.v. as well as popular Christian books.  A lot of the popular ones ...
